ZON Launches iPod Metadata Interface using iPort
(28/11/2006)
World's first all-digital distributed audio
system adds audio data display
ZON Audio has demonstrated the ZAS-430 Whole
House Digital Audio System that features iPod control and data display
using an iPort. The iPort-ready feature will be a standard feature
on the ZON ZAS-430 system and can easily access, select and play
all music stored on iPods when docked in an iPort connected to this
ZON system.
Developed in cooperation with iPort, it is
the first of the ZON Certified Sources that displays song titles,
artist information and other metadata. It also provides convenient
control of an iPod from a ZAS-430 system controller.
Scheduled for release in January 2007, the
iPort-ready ZON system connects to an RS-232 enabled iPort. These
include the IW-4 and IW-5 series in-wall music system for iPod and
the FS-4 and FS-5 free standing series. Both products enable the
iPod to serve as a high-performance whole house audio source for
digital music.
"This is one of the most frequently requested
enhancements," said Lynn McCroskey, chairman and CEO of Oxmoor Corporation,
manufacturer of ZON Whole House Digital Audio.
All audio components, including iPods, connected
to the ZON Audio system are accessible from any controller anywhere
in the home.
The iPort adds the following features:
* High quality digital processing of iPort
audio by ZON for noise-free music distribution.
* Display of song and artist information on the ZON ZAC-30e controller's
high resolution illuminated LCD screen.
* Ability to control an iPod from any of six ZON audio controllers
connected to an iPod enabled ZON ZR-46 series router.
* iPort powers the iPod and charges the battery while connected
to the ZON system.
