Supra Cables Launches Sword-ISL Zero Inductance Interconnect Global Limited Edition (13/11/2006)

£425.00 for a terminated 0.8m pair

- patented Bipolar Wound Litz Design - electrically & sonically transparent - excellent value in high-end systems - audibly outperforms far more expensive exotic cables.

After extensive R&D into the concept, technologies and manufacturing, Supra's unique Sword speaker cable was announced in early 2003. It has taken a further three years to apply the Sword principles to an interconnect. Supra are the only company who physically make their own cables and it is this ability that makes Sword possible.

30th Anniversary Product Limited Edition Supra Sword-ISL Interconnect.

Supra is 30 this August and to celebrate they introduce the first ever audio interconnect, made using the advanced 'SWORD' construction pioneered in the acclaimed SWORD speaker cables. The limited edition will consist of 3,000 pairs in two versions; 500 pairs balanced with XLR and 2,500 pairs semi-balanced with Squeeze Lock RCA plugs.

Sword - a Patented Cable Design

Supra's flagship cables, the Sword Interconnect and the Sword Loudspeaker cable, are of a patented cable design. The secret is the bipolar wound litz conductors, each comprising a number of individually insulated wires. This bipolar winding is built with 6 of these wires helically wound in one direction and 6 in the opposite direction. This divides the magnetic field into opposing directions resulting in self-cancellation. Because Sword's conductors comprise a number of insulated wires, dynamic skin effect is cancelled. Sword behaves as a totally phase stable cable with a difference in phase shift from 500Hz to 100kHz of only 0.002 deg, delivering perfect musical timing.

What does it sound like?

Supra Sword passes the most complex music transients without any deformations and signal delay is the same at all musical frequencies. Therefore the cable vanishes. When you hear this, you suddenly realise how bad ordinary cables are. Supra Sword gives music a crystal clear 3-dimensional presence, a sure sign of the highest fidelity.

What is in the wooden boss? In accordance with Supra's No-nonsense Design Concept, there are no mysterious components in the mahogany wooden boss on the cable. It has 3 functions. 1) Holds the pair together and you can slide the boss along the cables, depending on how you wish to spread the ends apart. 2) A decorative piece to put the name plate on. 3) To indicate the direction of the signal. See it as half an arrow and connect the signal in the arrow direction.
