JL Audio Introduces New Fathom Powered Subwoofer
Model (20/10/2006)
CEDIA US Expo 2006
CEDIA Expo 2006 marks the debut of JL Audio's
newest powered home audio subwoofer, the Fathom f110. As the smallest
unit in the Fathom lineup, the f110 creates new opportunities for
integrating outstanding low-frequency performance in smaller spaces
(or wherever a small subwoofer is desired). The total package occupies
only 2 cubic feet of space with a footprint of only 1.5 square feet,
including the grille, making it ideal for home theater systems requiring
an unobtrusive subwoofer.
Like its larger siblings, the f112 and f113,
the new Fathom f110 features a proprietary long-excursion subwoofer
driver powered by an advanced switching amplifier to deliver outstanding
output. Both the driver and the amplifier feature patented JL Audio
technologies aimed at improving low frequency fidelity and dynamic
capability. A comprehensive set of signal-processing tools is included
to aid in sonic integration, including a fully variable low-pass
filter with variable slope, polarity control, variable phase control
and Extreme Low Frequency (E.L.F.) trim filter. As with all Fathom
models, the signal processing features are accessible on the front
of the cabinet, greatly facilitating system setup and tuning. The
f110's Input options include balanced and unbalanced connections
as well as a slave balanced output which allows multiple f110's
to be controlled from a single unit.
JL Audio's exclusive A.R.O. (Automatic Room
Optimization) system is also included. This advanced processing
system uses the included microphone and an automated analysis routine
to address the listening environment's acoustics. The A.R.O. system
can make difficult rooms, or less than ideal subwoofer placements,
deliver exceptional quality bass.
The Fathom f110 will be available in High-Gloss
Black or Satin Black finishes.
