Audio Design Associates Introduces Omega CB System,
Capable of Routing 32 High Definition Video and 64 Digital Audio
Sources (11/10/2006)
CEDIA US Expo 2006
The Most Advanced, Best Sounding, Sophisticated
and Expensive Multi-room System In The World
At this year's CEDIA Expo, Audio Design Associates
(ADA) -- the recognized brand of excellence in high-end custom installed
electronics - announced the introduction of the industry's most
vast audio / video distribution system, called the Omega CB System.
The Omega CB is a lavish estate-targeted
system, capable of routing 32 high-definition video sources and
64 digital-audio sources to up to 106 independent zones. According
to ADA COO and VP Richard Stoerger, the MSRP of this 16-zone system
would typically be more than $100,000, just for the AV mainframe.
Stoerger says, "Omega CB's name is derived
from CB, which stands for Custom Built, and System Omega, ADA's
award winning multi-room system which for over ten-years had graced
the covers of many high-end audio / video enthusiast and design
magazines. Omega CB takes the original System Omega's building block
approach (each zone requires a 2-rack-space preamp or integrated
amp) but jumps way beyond stereo into the world of multi-channel
audio."
"The Omega CB exceeds the capabilities of
what had been ADA's most robust system to date, the Suite 16, that's
capabilities boasted being able to route up to 16 audio or video
sources to 16 zones, with expansion capability to 96 zones. But
now, the number of inputs is the key, not necessarily the number
of zones," says Stoerger.
According to Stoerger, the Omega CB came
about specifically in response to those dealers that require more
than 16 sources. Examples of today's required sources could include
a music server, multiple satellite TV and cable boxes, multiple
satellite radio tuners, multiple networked DVRs and localized iPods,
etc., all independently controllable from each zone. The vast number
of inputs also enables installers to add new sources at a later
date.
Each zone is capable of receiving a 7.1-channel
surround signal, turning each zone into a home theater for video
viewing or into a concert hall for listening to multi-channel music.
Multi-channel music can include Dolby, DTS, THX Ultra2 and up-conversion
of two-channel CDs to multi-channel sound.
Both stereo speaker pairs or full 7.1 surround
sound speaker arrays can wire to the mainframe via simple speaker
wire where they connect to centrally located Omega CB Zone Controllers.
Alternately, audio and video content is shipped over CAT-5 cable
to remote rooms from the central A/V stack, where a local Omega
CB Zone Controller (3.5-inch by 19-inch) can be installed per individual
zone.
Stoerger added, "Suffice it to say, that
the Omega CB is the most advanced, best sounding, and most sophisticated
multi-room system in the world. It is also the most expensive."
The Omega CB System is ideally matched with
ADA's iHome Multi-Center, Tune Suite, & iBase products.
MSRP: Typically +$100,000 for 16 zones. Units
are shipping now.
