Escient FireBall MX Series Combines Digital Music and DVD Management (2/10/2006)

CEDIA US EXPO 2006

Three New FireBall(tm) MX Series Media Managers Featuring Digital Music Management, DVD Management and Free Internet Radio in One Source Component

Escient, the pioneer in digital media management, is introducing its next generation of award-winning FireBall(tm) Media Management products at CEDIA 2006. The company's three new FireBall MX Series products feature Escient's unparalleled digital music management features, free Internet Radio, and changer-based DVD and CD management capabilities - all in one home theater component.

In addition to internal hard drives for digital music storage, the MX Series works in conjunction with high capacity DVD/CD changers to provide convenience, security, and efficient storage for physical DVDs and CDs all through an intuitive on-screen user interface. The MX Series includes three models designed to provide state-of-the-art media management capabilities to even the largest music and DVD/CD collections. The entry level MX-111 (SRP: $1999) provides a 160GB internal hard drive and support for up to 400 changer-based discs. The mid level MX-531 (SRP: $3999) provides a whopping 500GB hard drive and support for up to 1200 discs. Rounding out the trio is the high-end MX-752 (SRP: $5999) providing a massive 750GB hard drive, support for up to 2000 discs, and two independent video outputs (when used with the FireBall MP-200 Media Player) for watching the same movie or two different movies in two rooms of the home.

Escient is also introducing the new FireBall ZP-1 Zone player (SRP: $499, availability November 2006), providing incremental audio zones for FireBall music servers. The ZP-1 works by providing each room or "zone" in the home, with an independent on-screen TV user interface, full remote control capabilities, and digital audio music streams when networked with an Escient FireBall Music Server (including the free FireBall-PC software running on a Mac or Windows computer). The new MX Series FireBall models along with the new FireBall ZP-1 Zone Player are being showcased in the Escient booth (#228) at CEDIA 2006 in Denver Colorado.

THE ONE WITH MUSIC, MOVIES, INTERNET RADIO AND MORE!

Escient's MX Series also includes exciting new software features including: a "jukebox" play mode that allows you to queue up song selections while you are listening to another song, AAC audio decoding, new user interface themes, international support for five different languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian), improved web interfaces, a new artist music guide view, a new hierarchical music guide view, and new third-party support modules for Crestron, AMX, RTI, and Philips remote control systems.

Bernie Sepaniak, president of D&M Holdings' ReplayTV, Escient and ACT divisions noted: "As Escient celebrates our tenth anniversary, we are excited to offer a new line of FireBall media managers and zone players that bring all the great features people have come to expect from Escient, with new performance capabilities and added flexibility at attractive price points for building networked home entertainment systems. As an example our new FireBall MX-series all feature DVD management, allowing a customer who might presently only want music management capabilities to easily add a DVD changer anytime in the future."
