Haefling appointed as Meridian CEO (28/9/2006)
Other new appointments in Marketing and R&D
departments
Meridian Audio Ltd has announced the appointment
of Robert Haefling as Chief Executive Officer of the Meridian Audio
Group, effective immediately. Haefling joins the company from Genesis
Microchip Inc., where he was Vice-President of Corporate Marketing
and was in charge of the Faroudja brand, now manufactured under
exclusive license by Meridian, where he helped draft the agreement
between the two companies.
"I have always been impressed with Meridian
and realized that it was, quite simply, the best in the consumer
audio field, with an excellent combination of innovation, management
team and dedicated staff," said Haefling. "The company has a great
opportunity to leverage its unique technologies and brand and expand
into new and diverse markets," he continued, "and I am very pleased
to be joining Meridian as it is poised to enter its 30th year."
"We are an expanding and developing company,"
said Chairman and Technical Director Robert Stuart, "and it's vital
that we have the right team in place to take Meridian forward for
the next phase of its development. Robert Haefling will play a key
role in that transition and we are very pleased to welcome him on
board."
Meridian has also made two other new appointments
recently, in newly created roles. Stuart Russell joins as Marketing
Manager, and Alan Douglas joins the Research and Development department
as Manager of Special Projects.
Prior to joining Meridian, Stuart Russell
was Marketing Manager with the UK manufacturing arm of a Danish
company with one of the world's leading names in audiology and the
hearing healthcare market. He brings over a decade of product marketing
and communications experience to the company and, as a former professional
musician, has a keen interest in home audio and hi-fi. He has also
previously worked in the media, in intellectual property law and
was Marketing Manager with a well-known British consumer audio company
for several years until 2004. "I'm really delighted to be joining
Meridian at such an exciting time in the company's development,"
said Russell. "Meridian is undoubtedly one of the most innovative
companies in this industry, and has a pedigree in digital music
and home entertainment that is second-to-none."
Alan Douglas brings with him a wealth of
experience in international design, manufacturing and production
engineering. Previously based in Hong Kong, he worked for a leading
Japanese OEM audio products manufacturer, and prior to that he was
for many years with another major UK-based audio manufacturing company.
"Meridian is without doubt at the forefront of consumer audio,"
he said. "The purity and clarity of their design, brand and audio
quality is unrivaled in the marketplace. I am honored to be part
of such an impressive and class-leading company."
