NuVo introduces a Wireless iPod Dock featuring bi-directional communication and frequency hopping technology (1/9/2006)

CEDIA US Expo 2006

NuVo Technologies is delighted to announce the introduction of its innovative and exciting new solution for an iPod docking station. Clearly the best solution for linking iPod to the whole home audio environment, Nuvo's iPod Dock is as simple as setting it in place and it instantly communicates throughout the entire system and the home-and it does it wirelessly! It requires NO in-wall wiring and also acts as a charging station for the iPod to boot. It's charging the iPod while acting as a source, but is ready to go, all charged up when you are.

Solutions like this have been available to the market for over a year. However, previous solutions lacked sensitivity to home esthetics and additional wiring and programming added to the complexity of installation. Not to mention, they are an expensive alternative. NuVo's #NV-WIPS is a wireless iPod dock that instantaneously makes your iPod an audio source communicating seamlessly with the Grand Concerto NuVoNet system, and can be placed in up to two locations anywhere in the home.

It also communicates bi-directionally. Command and meta-data information are sent bi-directionally from the receiver unit to the iPod dock and back again. This enables the Grand Concerto Control Pads located throughout the home to wirelessly control any iPod plugged into these NV-WIPS docks placed anywhere in the home.

The NV-WIPS also introduces a new, highly effective use of wireless frequency hopping technology. There are actually 3 frequencies built into the receiver unit. The transmit and receive antennas within the iPod dock send a constant audio signal and associated meta-data signal to a small receiver unit located near the Grand Concerto main component. When signals are being sent the receiver will automatically find the most clear and efficient path among these three in which to send the signal. The audio signal is then sent from the receiver unit to the Concerto system via a standard stereo RCA cable.
