Asheridge Launches ZÕN Multiroom Audio Range (31/7/2006)

Asheridge Communications, the specialist provider of audio visual, testing and home networking solutions, has launched the new ZÕN multi-room audio range manufactured by US based Oxmoor Corporation. Now available in the UK from Asheridge, the ZÕN family provides a versatile, whole house solution for custom installers which is easy to install, offers proven reliability and performance with existing or new audio sources and can be easily expanded with additional zones, if and when required.

The ZÕN range for Asheridge comprises the ZAC-60 Audio Controller/Amplifier, the ZIM-4 Input Module and the ZR-98 Router. The products are compatible with the vast majority of audio sources and connect together on an all-digital system architecture, integrating fully and easily with standard Cat5 structured wiring to ensure quick and simple installation. The system is also iPod(r) ready, offering easy connection into any Input Module or Router whilst also enabling remote control of the iPod using a special module. Using either the on-board serial interface or an optional Ethernet/LAN server, the system can be rapidly set up and configured with the minimum of fuss. The ZÕN range is available ex-stock from Asheridge who will also be providing installers with full technical support and training on the system.

The ZAC-60 provides in-room amplification through its 60-Watt all-digital stereo amplifier. The integrated jog wheel and high resolution dot matrix display create a stylish and intuitive user interface in an attractive, brushed metal finish. An on-board Digital Signal Processor (DSP) provides EQ selection, tone and balance controls, and includes loudness contour control to enhance the listening experience in each room. The ZAC-60 has a built-in infrared receiver that provides IR control of the ZÕN Controller and passes IR commands to source devices throughout the home. An integral microphone enables system-wide paging as well as room monitoring, ideal for a baby's bedroom.

The ZIM-4 input module offers input connections for analogue, digital, and optical audio sources as well as an IR output, all in one convenient single-gang, standard-sized module. Its compact size allows installers to discretely locate inputs near sources without having to sacrifice rack space or the client's interior design. Multiple modules can be ganged together where needed to create a multi-source connection point. The ZIM-4 features a 24-bit A/D converter, allowing source inputs to be located virtually anywhere without compromising signal quality or requiring extra cabling.

Designed to fit neatly within structured wire distribution enclosures using 8P8C modular jacks and plugs, the ZR-98 completes the integration and installation of input modules and audio controller / amplifiers into a total system. This nine source, four zone, four sub-zone unit provides power, audio, control and communications to and from each remotely located ZAC-60 Audio Controller. It features a 24-bit digital audio path for unsurpassed audio quality and performance. Multiple ZR-98 units can be linked together for easy and efficient system expansion, up to more than 1,000 rooms. System setup and firmware updates can be easily applied by connecting the ZR-98 to a PC running Oxmoor's ZÕN Router Serial Configuration Utility. A built-in RS-232c port interfaces to home control systems, where required.
