Digital Plumbers taps into affordable smart housing
(10/7/2006)
With smart housing moving up the agenda for
the building trade, a new company, Digital Plumbers has launched
a product to help builders capitalise on the growing trend.
The system is the brainchild of SMC, a world
renowned custom installation company, and is made up of a hub that
takes all incoming data and digital information and distributes
it, via a single cable containing 2 standard CAT 5 and 2 coaxial
cores, to each connected room in the house.
The hub, which costs around £500, is no larger
than a standard electrical consumer unit and has been designed to
be simple and clean to install and will not hold up the build job
or incur additional costs. Up to six different rooms can be connected
to the system making Digital Plumbing perfect for small to medium
size properties.
Digital Plumber, Martin Banks comments: "This
new technology is creating a real buzz amongst the industry because
it is showing how a networking system can be installed at an affordable
price and with no additional AV or data skills required. This allows
builders to access into the growing number of home owners who want
to move into properties where there is digital plumbing and are
prepared to pay a premium for it."
