Progressive AV introduces the 3rd generation Squeezebox
network music player (29/6/2006)
CEDIA UK Expo 2006
Progressive AV introduces the 3rd generation
Squeezebox network music player for the digital music lover. The
player, from the award-winning manufacturer of digital music streaming
devices is available now.
The new Squeezebox, available in black or
white and wireless or wired-only configurations, is a study in modern
design, appropriate for any setting. The contrast of highly polished
material against a crisp brushed metal fascia is a fitting reflection
of the sophisticated technology held within. It is a joy for the
eyes as well as the ears.
Fred Bould, an internationally renowned California-based
designer of cool, modern house wares and home furnishings designed
the player. His works have received numerous awards and inclusion
in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Permanent Design Collection.
It is the mission of Slim Devices to create
simple and easy to use home network devices, which exploit the power
of today's home computers while fitting in with contemporary, internal
home design. The new slim vertical case and stunning aqua-blue display
is both striking and unobtrusive.
The player includes support for 802.11g wireless,
dual internal antennas, 24bit Burr-Brown DAC, digital and analog
outputs, and support for SqueezeNetwork, a new service that enables
Slim Devices players to connect to Internet radio feeds without
needing a computer.
With the simultaneous release of SlimServer
6.2-the companion open source Software - Slim Devices provides:
¥ Hardware support for WMA radio and files
on all other operating systems. ¥ Wake-on-LAN support. ¥ Support
for Chinese, Japanese, and Hebrew text. ¥ An extended radio directory
for access to the best Internet radio stations.
The new players are available now from Progressive
Consumer Electronics Ltd. The retail prices are £229.99 for Wireless
Squeezebox and £179.99 for Wired Squeezebox.
