Digital Fidelity Announces License Agreement with
Naim (27/6/2006)
CEDIA UK Expo 2006
Naim launch a range of Music Servers powered
by the DigiFiTM platform from Digital Fidelity
Digital Fidelity, London based content platform
specialists, have are delighted to announce that they have entered
into a substantial License Agreement with Naim Audio. Their software
is licensed to OEMs for the manufacture of traditional and/or 'virtual'
music servers and Naim Audio chose the DigiFiTM platform on which
to build their groundbreaking range of true audiophile servers.
Naim will launch 4 DigiFi-powered servers at CEDIA Expo 2006 at
the Excel Centre in London Docklands, to complement their NaimNet
IP based multiroom system to be launched simultaneously at CEDIA.
"Naim's credentials in the field of high-end
audio are without question, and we are delighted to have been selected
to partner such an esteemed audiophile brand," commented John Booth,
Managing Director of Digital Fidelity.
"We chose Digital Fidelity for a number of
reasons" indicated Alan Ainslie, Head of the recently established
Custom Install Division at Naim. "We were looking for a partner
with whom we could build a relationship and where we could play
a significant part in bringing ideas to the table. The DigiFiTM
platform was originally conceived with in-built flexibility from
the bottom up, and this has allowed us to select the functionality
we needed to create true Naim products, not clones, and achieve
our critical brand values at all levels of product design and user
interfaces. We are very proud of having a significant input into
specifying and shaping Naim Remote Access, Naim Remote Sync and
the development of the Naim Extended Music Database"
"DigiFiTM also seamlessly integrates the
very rich data now available from AMG which enabled us to create
the Naim Extended Music Database" said Ainslie, "this is a key selling
point for our Classical and Jazz customers and a great opportunity
for differentiation by our dealers"
While the DigiFiTM platform can operate as
a traditional music server, enhancements add the ability to integrate
content stored on iPods and other USB removable devices into one
consolidated library with the music stored on the server itself.
Furthermore, DigiFiTM also scans for music on shared drives in the
home environment and present this in the music library for playback.
DigiFiTM does this intelligently and pro-actively without the need
for intrusive software agents on the source PC or drive. "This consumer
is becoming very aware of the dangers of their PC becoming clogged
up with software elements they don't want which at worst open up
their PC to external attack - it was very important to us that the
scanning elements of DigiFiTM worked completely independently" stressed
Booth. Multiple streams from all these sources can be created and
played out simultaneously.
