SpeakerCraft's MODE Allows You to Share Your iPod with Every Room for a new Music On Demand Experience (9/6/2006)

Stand C4, CEDIA UK Expo 2006

New intuitive MODE room-control interface displays iPod(r) and other source content in brilliant colour

SpeakerCraft, America's original manufacturer of in-wall speakers, announces a transforming Music On Demand Experience from the extraordinary MODE colour display: an on-wall control keypad, which dramatically enhances the capabilities of its award-winning multi-zone control systems.

With over six million iPods shipped in the US last quarter, SpeakerCraft is offering the first multi-zone system to show actual iPod song information, including song titles, artists, albums, music genres and user defined play lists, in every room via a high resolution colour display.

Navigation on the MODE keypad is as easy and intuitive as the iPod itself, and with the MODE connected to a SpeakerCraft MZC multi-zone control system, a single iPod becomes one of many sources available throughout the home. In fact, the MODE system will support up to six iPods, which can be individually accessed as separate sources from any MODE display in the home.

Mounted in a double gang wall-plate, the MODE keypad features a simple scroll-wheel/push button control that allows users to scroll through iPod music information presented on the colour display and click for access. Users familiar with iPod navigation will feel right at home with the process and be able to enjoy their music with the same intuitive ease as they would in an airport or walking through the park.

A further set of controls will manage display information from hard drive music servers, like SpeakerCraft's new MODE DJ server, and AM/FM radio tuners as well as controlling all other sources that respond to infra-red commands. The MODE keypad's sleek, ergonomic design will integrate easily with any home dˇcor.

"Having lived with an iPod since its introduction I have always been thrilled with its easy operation and enjoyed complete access to my music." exclaimed Jeremy Burkhardt, President of SpeakerCraft. "It has become my music server of choice. I know others feel the same way and this new technology will allow them to enjoy the same experience throughout their home."

The iPod itself resides in a proprietary dock which can be placed anywhere in the home and connected via a standard CAT 5 cable to the main system. This allows the user to place the iPod on a nightstand, on a dedicated charging shelf with cell phones and digital cameras, or next to the computer, making it available for music downloads.
