Philips showcases full range of home entertainment
control solutions at CEDIA Expo (1/6/2006)
Stand H3, CEDIA UK Expo 2006
Philips' leadership in solutions for the
easy control of home entertainment devices will be showcased at
CEDIA Expo 2006 in London from 20 to 22 June. Eight years since
introducing the very first Pronto(TM) touchscreen universal remote
control, Philips continues to drive innovation and convenience in
the URC marketplace with its latest advanced Prontos - the sleek
RU990 and RU960 models plus the advanced LI910 RF extender.
Philips' presence at this year's CEDIA Expo
will underline the increasing prominence of the custom installation
industry in the distribution mix of Philips' Pronto(TM) family of
award-winning advanced touch screen devices. Dedicated custom installation
distribution offers expert knowledge and understanding of this specific
industry resulting in optimal support for the installer base whether
for home cinema or full home automation projects.
Latest Pronto universal remote controls
With its latest Pronto models, Philips sets
the benchmark higher for universal remote controls which offer the
ease-of-use of touchscreen LCD technology with the total consumer
convenience of featuring the largest library of compatible electronics
brands and devices, enabling a living room full of remote controls
to be consolidated into a single handset.
For the ultimate home control experience,
the Philips ProntoPro RU990 colour touchscreen remote provides a
unique and fully customizable solution. With a memory capacity of
48 MB, the RU990 enables extensive customization and controls even
more devices than any previous Philips Pronto model, as well as
being able to upload and download codes four-times faster than its
predecessors.
Additionally, the RU990 features backward
compatible RF capabilities and IR learning for its extensive database
of codes. Combined with the RF extender, the RU990 offers users
a reliable control solution that is simple and easy for custom installers
to configure and install.
Along with superior performance, the RU990
features a superior design, with the handset built around a large
colour LCD display capable of displaying more than 65,000 vibrant
colours for crisp, clear images. Information clarity is complemented
by the tactile feel of the device, especially in the newly designed
hard keys which give an additional level of comfortable use.
Personalized performance: Philips Pronto
RU960
The Philips Pronto family's popularity has
always been driven by how easy Pronto devices are to personalise
to the end user's requirements. The Philips RU960 takes this quality
to a new level, with its advanced design incorporating an enhanced
LCD display. With significantly increased colour and contrast levels
improving screen clarity over previous Prontos, the RU960 features
a newly design touchscreen interface for greater simplicity and
comfort.
The display screen, along with the icons,
can be fully customized by an installer to meet each consumer's
unique needs and preferences. The unit also includes a charger,
docking station and battery for a complete solution in one package.
Installers can easily update the Philips
RU960 universal remote control's database of codes to include new
products as they enter the market. ProntoEdit(TM), packaged with
the RU960, is highly flexible PC software, which provides extensive
design flexibility, including the creation of personalized backgrounds,
buttons, label icons and actions.
The enhanced version of ProntoEdit features
a fully reprogrammed IR dialogue box to set the minimum IR code
duration and an extended gallery for more imagery selections. Buttons
can now be linked to each other graphically and right-click menus
have been added, resulting in more work being accomplished in a
shorter amount of time. In addition, a revolutionary new base template
allows entire systems to be programmed by an installer in minutes,
with a minimal amount of effort beforehand.
Philips Pronto devices give consumers unprecedented
levels of control over their home entertainment systems, but if
that control needs additional range for maximum benefit, the Philips
LI910 receiver module extends the Pronto's power. With a built-in
signal interference system ensuring optimal location, the LI910
includes a free-positional antenna that can be rotated in all directions,
adding flexibility and ensuring the system is optimized. Installers
can easily connect the unit via the single connection cable for
both power and IR signals, as well as increase IR capabilities with
the four output ports on the unit itself.
All three Philips control products are currently
on sale in Europe. The RU990 carries a retail price of €1299;
the RU960 retails for €549, the LI910 retails for €249.
