Genelec introduces its smallest home theatre sound system to date (31/5/2006)

Genelec Oy, designer and manufacturer of high quality home theatre sound systems, is introducing the ultra compact 6020A two-way active speaker system and 5050A active subwoofer.

Ideal for listening environments where space is more limited, such as smaller home theatres and multi media/gaming rooms, this combo delivers an exceptionally high impact listening experience for its size, and is the perfect compact, yet powerful, stereo or surround solution.

The Genelec 6020A bi-amplified active speaker is the company's smallest speaker to date. All forms of distortion have been minimised, thanks to its design incorporating Genelec's proprietary die-cast aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure(TM) (MDE(TM)) technology.

Genelec has achieved outstanding imaging accuracy and low frequency extension within the extremely compact enclosure. Employing Genelec's innovative Directivity Control Waveguide(TM) (DCW(TM)) the 6020A has an amazingly flat on- and off-axis response, while its long, curved reflex port ends in a wide flare for excellent bass articulation.

The 6020A incorporates a 105mm (4") bass driver along with a 19mm (3/4") tweeter loaded into a Genelec DCW. The free field frequency response is 66Hz to 20kHz (± 2.5dB). Maximum peak SPL output per pair with music material is 105dB at 1m. The woofer and tweeter are each powered by 20W amplifiers.

The new Genelec 5050A Active Subwoofer is the ideal partner for the 6020A, supplying a powerful, 3-channel bass-managed, wide bandwidth subwoofer solution for both stereo and surround sound applications.

The 5050A subwoofer is equipped with one active magnetically shielded 205mm (8") driver, mounted on the front side of a compact cabinet, and two 205mm (8") passive radiators, one on each side of the cabinet. A 70W amplifier unit is integrated into the 5050A and the unit has a frequency response from 25Hz - 120Hz (± 3dB).

The 5050A also has the ability to deliver short-term sine wave of 100dB SPL and like all Genelec active subwoofers, the 5050A features extremely low distortion. In addition, XLR and RCA line level input connectors (with input sensitivity) provide easy connection to all types of decoders, as well as a Link Out connector, which allows the coupling together of two or more subwoofers when higher sound pressure levels are required.
