Tannoy Extends Arena Loudspeaker Range (31/5/2006)
The new Arena HighLine loudspeaker ranges
combine meticulously crafted design, exceptional acoustic performance
and application flexibility to deliver systems that define the category.
The multi award-winning Arena loudspeaker
range from Tannoy has been extended ...quite literally! Designed
to elegantly coordinate with flat screen televisions, two distinct
new ranges have been introduced - Arena HighLine 300 and Arena HighLine
500. Each range offers three exquisitely designed models, a choice
of subwoofers and collection of accessories allowing a wide variety
of complete home theatre system options.
Extravagantly thick section aluminium is
the primary material for the ultra slim loudspeaker cabinets and
these are internally braced at strategic points throughout their
length to provide a robust and rigid platform for the drive units.
For the centre channel and satellite speakers, invisible wall mount
brackets are supplied as standard; these simple yet effective fixing
mechanisms allow completely unobtrusive installation. Low profile
table stands and height adjustable floor stands, all with carefully
thought through cable management, are available as optional accessories
ensuring a seamless fit within any contemporary dˇcor scheme.
Lowering the centre of gravity with the addition
of a substantially weighted platform fixed to the tall and slender
floorstanding speakers, provides stability and additional acoustic
benefits through enhanced floor coupling and subsequent stabilising
of the audio image.
Arena HighLine 500
Incorporating the same technology for which
the original Arena models have been internationally praised, a 100mm
(4.00") version of Tannoy's world famous proprietary Dual Concentric(tm)
drive unit is complemented by a bass drive unit of the same size
within all components of the Highline 500 system. The highly specified
Dual Concentric(tm) is a compact but high powered, wide bandwidth
unit which combines a multi fibre paper pulp LF cone and a titanium
domed HF unit with a neodymium magnet system.
Extending the bandwidth of the loudspeakers
ensures enhanced intelligibility by providing a more focussed sound
stage through superior spatial imaging. Vocals and instruments are
clearly more separate and distinct and percussive sounds have more
reality and impact. Perfect for this type of application, the point
source driver system generates a spherical wave front unaffected
by energy loss at the crossover frequency in either vertical or
horizontal planes. With this exclusive Tannoy system, consistent
performance on and off axis is achieved over the full frequency
range, meaning the whole family gets the full home theatre experience
and not just the person sat in the middle of the sofa!
Multiple electro-statically applied layers
of paint, each hand sanded and polished, produce the sumptuous deep
gloss mirror-like silver or black finish on the Highline 500 models.
Arena HighLine 300
A multi driver array comprising two 75mm
(3") midrange units, two 75mm (3") bass units and one 19mm (0.75")
ultra high frequency SuperTweeter(tm) is used in the compact HighLine
300 series. Mounting the high frequency unit in a D'Appolito driver
configuration, centrally between two midrange drivers, creates a
larger radiating area and controls tweeter dispersion off axis providing
a greater uniform coverage area of the sound. Using exactly the
same driver complement in each of the loudspeakers within the full
system ensures a synergy of sound which is a crucial element for
the very best home theatre experience.
HighLine 300 models are lavishly finished
in silky smooth matt silver or black.
Subwoofer choice
To deliver the huge dynamics demanded by
modern movie soundtracks the choice of 300 or 500 Watt subwoofers
incorporate high efficiency power amplifiers providing exceptional
performance and bandwidth. Comprehensive control functions on each
model enable simple optimisation of the unit for music or home cinema
listening and output adjustment to match the relative level of the
main speakers, or just setting to personal taste. Beautifully finished
in black or silver to coordinate with the rest of the system, the
subwoofers feature clever orientation options allowing the driver
to be faced downwards, sideways or forwards to optimise acoustic
coupling to the listening room.
