projectiondesign Announces the Action! Model Two
Compact High-End 16:9 720p HDTV DLP Projector - Perfect for SKY
HDTV (11/5/2006)
The smallest and most efficient HD-Ready
home-cinema projector ever made - just £3500.00
With the arrival of 1080p, there is no justification
for 720p projectors that cost £5000 or more. By totally re-engineering
their advanced Model One, projectiondesign have created the Model
Two, a 720p HDTV projector that sets new image benchmarks in the
mid-price market and that can confidently go head to head with far
more expensive competitors.
- true reference-class high performance SD
and HD video
- tiny and whisper quiet (24dB) for easy install and unobtrusive
usage in table or ceiling mount applications
- first projector in class to offer true optical vertical lens shift
- 0-120% - off-axis distortion is eliminated
- Fujinon lenses and projectiondesign light-engine for high-end
optical performance
- high optical and thermal efficiency - complete connectivity and
networking - sets up in minutes
The model two, markedly outperforms the model
one MKIII, in itself a highly-rated £5000 projector, delivering
improved contrast, better black levels, more detail and less noise.
The improved image quality comes as a result of redesigned optics,
new 7 Segment NDG colour wheel, improved driving of the DLP chip
and advanced firmware.
The ultra-sleek projector is housed in a
small and stylish magnesium cabinet that also serves as a heat sink
and is available in three gloss automotive finishes, Vanquish Grey,
Pearl White, Maranello Blue. The model two's packaging is elegant
and non-intrusive, measuring only 234 w x 278 d x 94 h mm and under
3 kilos in weight.
- Texas Instruments HD2+ DarkChip3 DLP chip
with the very latest driver circuits on UniBoard electronic architecture
- 7-segment Neutral Density Green (NDG) colour wheel AND projectiondesign's
own original light-engine design
- all glass cinema-grade optics from the world's finest lens maker
(Fujinon) WITH optical lens shift (vertical)
- projectiondesign proprietary RealColor advanced colour management
for perfect 6500k out of the box
- better than 4000 : 1 true optical contrast - unlike most this
is an accurate figure not a PR led spec
- 1000 video-optimised ANSI lumens from the new Philips 220w UHP
lamp - highest lumens per watt
- DVI-D (HDCP) input - native resolution of 1280 x 720 - HD ready
for SKY HD and more
- Cast magnesium case and chassis provide rigidity and heat sink
functions
- Ultra-quiet at 24db
- New backlit remote handset
- Complete install, network. IP and computer integration
- 3 year guarantee
The Action! model two has been designed specifically
to be small and unobtrusive, yet deliver reference level performance.
Unbelievably small, it is practically unnoticeable when installed
on the ceiling and requires no special attention to reinforcement
of supporting structures. It's also incredibly easy to transport
and store.
High precision NDG technology 7-Segment colour
wheel - 10 bit colour depth. The model two uses an expensive and
very high precision colour wheel with NDG (Neutral Density Green)
technology. This dramatically improves colour fidelity and low level
resolution, with full grey-scale reproduction all the way down to
the deepest blacks, enabling much higher visible colour resolution
than ever before. Colour reproduction is enhanced with an extremely
large gamut, covering all colour spaces and video standards. Users
get deeply saturated and truly natural colours.
High-end Fujinon LD Glass lenses with Optical
lens shift, The aspherical lens elements and proprietary Low Dispersion
glass, gives the ability to resolve the finest detail. It is this
fine detail that creates stunning images, not just the overall contrast.
Vertical lens shift makes positioning easy with no image damaging
keystoning required.
Real 4000:1 Contrast. One of the most important
aspects projectors fail at, is reproducing the wide dynamic contents
of a movie. From the deepest blacks to the whitest whites, projectiondesign
believes in providing high-impact black and white levels at the
same time. Competitors fudge this figure by quoting with a variable
iris open / closed, or with the lammp dimmed or at it's brightest.
Figures such as 15000:1 are nonsense, as are claims of 5000:1 in
cheap projectors. Look carfeully at the spec and ignore 'Dynamic
Contrast' 'Artificial Intelligence' etc figures.
Sealed Optical Architecture prevents dust
and smoke from entering and contaminating the core optical engine.
A long, trouble free life is ensured, with practically no maintenance
needs.
Optimum Light Recovery optical assembly -
the highest lumens per watt in the industry. The model two features
projectiondesign's proprietary OLR technology, to make sure as much
as possible of the light from the lamp enters the optical path,
reproducing an image as dynamically as possible.
Unique RealColor colour management suite.
By characterising and calibrating every projector as they come off
the production line, pd ensure that every single one, can reproduce
a true D65 white point when it is installed. RealColor perfectly
tracks gray scale throughout the dynamic range and results in perfect
video colour reproduction.
Unique UniBoard High performance 10-bit video
processing. All video processing is kept on one printed circuit
board, reducing electrical noise, keeping signal paths short and
eliminating losses from connector cables. (Many high-end projectors
use quality components, yet connect them with cheap multi-lead cables,
which pick up noise.) All analogue video inputs feature full 10-bit
A/D conversion and processing, and video sources are enhanced using
the highly acclaimed FLI2310 DCDi progressive scan engine. This
provides full film and video mode processing and deploys several
image enhancing filters such as noise reduction, motion detection
and compensation.
A massive moulded magnesium chassis acts
as a heat sink, reduces operating noise, and makes the projector
virtually bomb proof. The sturdy chassis creates an incredibly stable
platform for optics, mechanics and electronics. Lamp change is easy
- out of the front panel of the projector without need to dismount
it in the installation.
Ultra-quiet with a fully de-coupled sub chassis.
Borrowing from pd's high end projectors, the model two has a fully
de-coupled sub chassis. All moving and mechanical parts are physically
de-coupled from the main chassis through the use of visco-elastic
rubber compounds for shock and vibration absorbtion. This reduces
operating noise to a minimum.
projectiondesign Corporate Information
Projectiondesign, established in 2001 and
headquartered in Fredrikstad, Norway is a worldwide leader in advanced,
high-performance DLP based projection solutions for challenging
applications in professional, business, home cinema and eCinema
markets.
projectiondesign's award-winning, innovative
technology is distinguished by numerous industry milestones including
the introduction of the world's first single-chip SXGA DLP projector
in 2002, the world's first single-chip SXGA+DLP in 2004, the world's
brightest single-chip SXGA+DLP in 2004 and the world's first DLP
1080p projector in 2006
As of Feb 2006 projectiondesign is one of
the world's fastest growing start-up companies, reaching a turnover
of £30 million plus in just over five years from start-up.
projectiondesign have one of the world's
most advanced projection development and prototyping labs in the
world, able to manufacture working prototypes for complete testing
on a one-off basis. Prototypes are refined many times before the
design is signed off for production.
All projectiondesign projectors are designed
and made in Fredrikstad in Norway. Unlike competitors who just source
and assemble commodity components, projectiondesign design and make
almost everything in-house including the light-engine, magnesium
castings and the surface mount electronics. When necessary, they
buy-in only the finest outside components such as cinema-grade Japanese
glass lenses and Philips UHP lamps.
projectiondesign projectors have been chosen
for their image quality by the Hasselblad Museum in Gothenburg,
for their 24/7 reliability by Rolls Royce and Ferrari and for their
installation flexibility by the Churchill War Rooms.
