Bring Your Home to Life with Harmony Home Automation (24/4/2006)

Harmony is a PC software system that allows you to control many different aspects of your home from a single, easy to use interface. As Europe's leading home automation software, Harmony controls a wider range of products than any other home automation software product. It is an affordable PC based solution which is feature rich with a simple user interface.

Harmony Home Automation software is designed to bring all the elements of your digital home together, allowing you to control X10 compatible devices using your computer. First released in 2002, Harmony is now on version 5.1 providing a stable and rich environment from which you can control your smart home.

Harmony Home Automation software has been designed to offer both ease of use for those wanting a simple point and click interface. It also offers advanced functionality for the built-in macro programming language. Control of the X10 compatible devices is via a Computer Interface Module (CM12) which plugs into the serial port of your computer (USB adapter available).

Key Features:

X10 compatible - Support for all popular X10 devices is built in as standard. These include the Appliance Modules, Lamp Modules, Din Rail modules, Transceivers and key fob remote controls. You may control up to 256 different groups of X10 devices around your home.

Schedules - You can set up schedules that recur every day / minute / hour or that fire once at specific times. Using a schedule you can set your curtains to open or close at dawn, turn on your lights gently in the morning or make your house looked lived in whilst you are away.

Events - Using the key fob remote control or other X10 transmitting device you can set in motion either sophisticated macros or a simple sequence of x10 commands. You can usefully use events to detect one type of X10 command and translate it into a different command or sets of commands. This can typically be used applications such as mood lighting.

Macros - Harmony has a rich macro language based around a language very similar to Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)*. Complete with an online 127 page manual of the commands available it means that you can not only automate the X10 systems within your home, but communicate with other programs and systems should you require.

Point and click interface - Harmony has a simple point and click interface to make it simple to turn lights on and off and to brighten or dim your lights.

Internet Interface - Harmony has a fully secure, web based interface built into it (no other software is required). So long as you have a broadband connection, with the Internet interface you may also be able to control your X10 compatible devices from anywhere in the world where you have access to the Internet, possibly including your office or whilst you are on holiday.

Furthermore the additional features of Harmony 5.1 make it a comprehensive solution and include:

* Enhanced Web Server capabilities * Add Scenes - Allows you to quickly access lighting configurations in every room around the house * French, German, Dutch and Spanish language support * 2 Way XML communication * Numerous other features
