Smart-e launch accredited training programme at CEDIA Expo 2006 (13/4/2006)

Stand H9, CEDIA Expo 2006

Smart-e Limited is launching a suite of three Accredited Training programmes at this yearÕs Cedia Expo, aimed at improving professionalsÕ knowledge and ability to design and install multi-room audio visual entertainment systems using CAT5 cabling. Additionally, Smart-e will be demonstrating their new compact, multi-screen entertainment system, the SNX8x8+ in a multi-room environment on their stand (H9), giving visitors a chance to see the new equipment in action. Jon Lane, Smart-eÕs managing director will also deliver a seminar, within the formal Cedia programme, addressing the problems surrounding distributing HD content around the home.

Smart-e Accredited Installer programme

As a designer and manufacturer of audio visual and switching equipment, Smart-e recognise that as technology becomes more complex, professionals need to update their knowledge to ensure systems are installed correctly. Smart-eÕs managing director Jon Lane says ÒOnce Sky start transmitting HD programmes, we anticipate there will be a substantial increase in the demand for multi-screen entertainment systems in the home. Choosing the right combination of equipment, the correct cabling and installation procedures for highly technical equipment across several rooms, can be extremely complex and fraught with problems if not designed and installed precisely. These 1-day training programmes provide a cost-effective and quick way of gaining the knowledge to install multi-room AV entertainment equipment successfully.Ó

Delivered by experienced professionals, each one day course caters to individuals at different knowledge and experience levels. Successful participants gain a certificate relevant to the level gained, benefit from extra discounts on Smart-e equipment and inclusion on the companyÕs website as an Accredited Smart-e Installer.

The Foundation course (Smart-e Accredited Installer, Level 1) is aimed at those with little or no experience in the installation of AV entertainment systems. The Intermediary programme (Smart-e Accredited Installer, Level 2) is designed for professionals already working in the industry who are seeking to update technical knowledge, hone skills and improve Cat5 cabling installation practices. Smart-eÕs Advanced course (Smart-e Accredited Installer, Level 3) will attract AV professionals who require a greater depth of knowledge for the design and installation of AV entertainment systems incorporating HD. This advanced programme includes troubleshooting, equipment and cable analysis, and interpretation of results.

Smart-e new compact multi-format switch - SNX8x8+

Developed and manufactured by Smart-e, the SNX 8x8+ is a new compact multi-format switch that delivers professional high quality images and sound from DVD players, set-top boxes, video cameras, laptops and PCs, to flat LCD and plasma screens, cinematic projectors and VGA (Video Graphics Array) monitors. Audio visual signals are transmitted via CAT5 structured cabling which is cheaper and lighter than other options. The systemÕs capacity to operate multiple screens reduces the number of main units required, offering cost savings. This combined with itÕs compact size, removal of the need for masses of unsightly cable, and the systemÕs affordability has resulted in a high level of interest from the domestic market.

Cedia seminar: HD distribution around the home

Jon Lane, managing director of Smart-e Limited, will deliver a seminar within the formal Cedia programme discussing the problems and providing solutions for distributing HD content around the home. Content will include advice on cable types & restrictions, digital versus analogue, coping with HDCP, using the right connectors, as well as HD displays and sources.
