Intellon Showcases 200Mbps Digital Home Network Connectivity for Multimedia Entertainment Applications (20/3/2006)

Intellon Corporation, the world leader in HomePlug(R) standards-based powerline communications (PLC) integrated circuits, today announced that its newly-introduced HomePlug AV technology is being showcased in demonstrations at the Spring 2006 Intel Developer Forum. Serving as an entertainment and media-rich communications channel, Intellon's HomePlug AV-based solutions transport action-packed gaming content and high-definition video over in-home power wiring with plug-and-play ease and Ethernet-like confidence.

As part of the Intel Digital Home Group Keynote address at 2:00 p.m. PST on March 7, Intellon's HomePlug AV technology will be on-stage streaming multimedia content over the powerline from an Intel(R) Viiv(TM) technology-based PC to a digital media adapter (DMA). In addition, Intellon's IDF booth #312 will show how HomePlug AV can stream high definition video, serving as a whole house network backbone in multi-stream scenarios and hybrid network applications.

The digitally connected home must have a fast, secure, and reliable network backbone to serve as the super highway for digital content. Intellon HomePlug AV technology provides the most ubiquitous solution with whole-house coverage, noise immunity, ease-of-use, security and accessibility at any AC outlet. Intellon solutions enable hybrid network topologies for whole-home connectivity, operating over coax as well as powerlines and offering powerline, Wi-Fi, UWB and coax bridges for increased network flexibility.

Intellon's HomePlug solutions are deployed worldwide by dozens of OEMs, ODMs and service providers for applications such as in-home data networking, WiFi extension, IPTV in-home distribution, audio streaming, and Broadband over Powerline (BPL).

Intellon is currently sampling the world's first HomePlug AV ICs (with the product name of INT6000) to early access customers. Initial consumer products using the INT6000 IC are expected during the second quarter of 2006.
