Pioneer Electronics "I Want My Plasma TV Survey":
Move Over Sports and Chocolate - America's Newest Love Affair Is
With Plasma TV (21/2/2006)
Pioneer Survey Shows What Americans Will
Sacrifice for a High Definition Plasma TV
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today announced
the results of the "I Want My Plasma TV Survey" conducted by Roper
Public Affairs*. The survey reveals that half of all Americans want
to own a high definition plasma television. It is no surprise that
Americans have fallen in love with these beautiful, thin televisions
with lifelike images, but what is surprising is just how far American
men and women have suggested they will go to get the bright, sharp
and accurate picture seen on a Pioneer PureVision high definition
plasma.
Forty percent of men surveyed said they would
endure a forty-eight hour chick flick marathon if it meant they
would be rewarded with a plasma television. One fifth of the men
surveyed said they would give up all sports related activities:
watching, playing and reading about their favorite sports and athletic
heroes. And forget chocolate, women these days are craving the sweet
treats of their favorite shows in high definition. A third of women
would give up chocolate for twelve months in exchange for a plasma
television.
"We're gearing up for some of the biggest
television events of the year. With international sporting events,
awards shows and major basketball tournaments just around the corner,
consumers are willing to do just about anything for a chance to
have a high definition plasma TV," said Russ Johnston, senior vice
president of marketing for home entertainment at Pioneer Electronics
(USA) Inc. "Once you experience the jaw-dropping image quality of
a high definition plasma television it's hard to go back to watching
ordinary TV."
Americans love plasma TVs because the crisp
images, vibrant colors and sleek design appeal to both men and women.
Part of what makes a Pioneer PureVision plasma television so irresistible
is the proprietary best-in-class technology that delivers outstanding
image quality. Pioneer PureVision plasmas feature technologies from
the Company's own R&D labs that enhance brightness and create richer
blacks (Deep Encased Cell Structure and Crystal Emissive Layer)
as well as to improve video processing (PureDrive II). These technologies
and others create an amazingly sharp, bright, accurate picture.
Pioneer's Home Entertainment Division is
a leading manufacturer of plasma televisions and monitors, Blu-ray
Disc and DVD products, A/V receivers, speakers and other audio and
video accessories. The company markets its products under the Pioneer
and Pioneer Elite brand names. When purchased from an authorized
dealer, consumers receive a limited warranty for one year with Pioneer
products and two years with Pioneer Elite products.
*The study was conducted by Roper Public
Affairs, a division of GfK. Results from the Pioneer I Want My Plasma
TV Survey are based on OmniTel interviews conducted from November
18 - 20, 2005 among a nationally representative sample of 1,004
US adults. The margin of error for the entire sample is +/- three
percentage points.
