Enhance Home Security and Remotely Control Lighting with the RadioRA Home Dimming System from Lutron (31/1/2006)

Controlling home lighting is simpler than ever. The wireless RadioRA home dimming system from Lutron Electronics offers all the advantages of a lighting control system - the ability to set and recall lighting moods or scenes, added convenience, enhanced security and energy savings - all without rewiring your home.

Using radio frequency (RF) technology, RadioRA makes it simple for any home to have reliable and affordable lighting control in every room. System installation is as simple as replacing existing switches with RadioRA dimmers and switches, making it simple to retrofit into any home, existing or new.

Once the RadioRA dimmers and switches are in place, lights can be turned on or off from anywhere in the home with the press of a button on a wall-mounted or portable master control. Turn off the basement lights from the comfort of your bed, light a pathway from the bedroom to the kitchen for a midnight snack, or turn on outdoor lights from the family room as guests arrive. The system is customized to meet your needs.

Lighting scenes

The magic of a whole-home lighting control system is the ability to create lighting scenes, or moods, with the press of a button. Program one of your master control buttons as the "Entertain" scene to quickly ready your home for guests. With the press of the button, lights will go on in key entertaining areas, like the kitchen, patio and family room, and turn off in unused areas of the home. Other examples of scenes include "Goodnight," in which all lights are turned off except for a foyer or front porch light and "Movie," in which all lights are turned off in the TV room and the kitchen

Lighting scenes can be easily programmed and changed to meet the needs of your home and your lifestyle.

Enhanced security

Coming home to a dark house is now a thing of the past. A sleek car visor control clips conveniently to your car's sun visor and lets you turn lights on and off from the comfort and safety of the car so that you are always entering a well-lit home.

Additionally, RadioRA can be linked to a security system so that if the alarm is tripped, interior and exterior lights can be programmed to turn on and flash to alert the authorities and your neighbors.

Expanding a RadioRA system is simple, too. Initially it might be installed in just two or three key rooms, like the kitchen and family room. Later, other rooms - a home office, master bedroom, and bathrooms, perhaps - can be added one at a time. Or, every light indoors and outside can be added at once, all without rewiring.

The reliability of RadioRA's technology places the product in a league of its own. The system's master controls, dimmers and switches "talk" to each other via radio signals. All controls employ true two-way communication, which assures the user that all commands have been sent and received. Status LEDs on master controls light to provide visual confirmation when the dimmers programmed to a specific button have been set to their assigned levels.

A RadioRA system can be used to control up to 64 zones of light from 24 master controls. Through the use of an interface, a RadioRA system can be linked to various audio/video components, including learnable remote controls and touchscreens, for simpler control and operation of a home theater.

RadioRA components are available in more than 20 colors, in gloss and matte finishes.
