BenQ, Buffalo, Mediabolic Demonstrate Network Media
Players Compatible with Next-generation Entertainment PCs (31/1/2006)
New Products Will Let Consumers Browse and
Play Back Personal Content and Remote Applications Anywhere in the
Home
BenQ, Buffalo, and Mediabolic today announced
that they are demonstrating at CES four new network media player
products designed to function with next-generation entertainment
PCs. At the heart of each new product is Media Player software from
Mediabolic, which enables consumers to view, share, and play back
their music, photo, and video files and access premium content anywhere
in the home. The three companies are working closely with Intel
Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) to test and verify that the four new
products will work with Intel(R) Viiv(TM) technology by the second
half of 2006.
Live demonstrations of these products are
available at the show in several locations, including the Digital
Living Network Alliance (DLNA) booth (#71027 - Sands Expo Center),
the BenQ booth (#30759 - Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall
3), the Buffalo meeting suite (#RV2 at the Renaissance - Las Vegas
Convention Center, South Hall) and the Philips Semiconductors booth
(#N243 - Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall). The products
are also on display in the Intel booth (#7153 - Las Vegas Convention
Center, Central Hall).
Mediabolic's Media Player software communicates
with entertainment PCs and other DLNA and UPnP media servers to
seamlessly stream rich content and applications to the television.
The four new products, each of which also utilize a high-performance
Nexperia PNX1502 media processor from Philips Semiconductors, are:
* BENQ DV3770 NETWORK LCD TV - a high-definition,
37-inch flat-panel television with a built-in network media player
for accessing content stored elsewhere on the home network
* BENQ WM1100T NETWORK MEDIA PLAYER - a cost-effective
entertainment center add-on that allows users to enjoy their personal
media and premium content using their existing TVs
* BUFFALO LINKTHEATER MINI NETWORK MEDIA
PLAYER - a compact, easy-to-use, affordable digital entertainment
player ideal for consumers who want multiple units in their homes
* MEDIABOLIC NB-NMP2 NETWORK MEDIA PLAYER
- a reference design for OEMs that delivers a turnkey yet cost-effective
way for them to bring Viiv player products to market quickly
"This new technology platform is truly focused
on the needs of the consumer. Its primary objective is to make digital
entertainment easier to use and more convenient for all of us,"
said Daniel Putterman, president and CEO of Mediabolic. "There's
a clear need for networked devices that support this initiative,
and BenQ, Buffalo, and Mediabolic have stepped up to the plate to
deliver exciting products based on our Media Player software that
will work with these next-generation entertainment PCs later this
year."
