Warner Home Video Announces Titles and Release Dates for HD DVD (26/1/2006)

Home Video Leader Plans Release of Recent Blockbusters and Catalog Titles Beginning on March 28, 2006

Warner Home Video (WHV), which distributes the largest film library of any studio, announced yesterday at CES 2006 a confirmed list of 24 titles that will be released on HD DVD in conjunction with the initial deliveries of HD DVD players. The films represent a combination of new releases and catalog favorites. The first of these titles will be released on March 28, 2006.

"Warner Bros. has always been an innovator in home entertainment and is committed to delivering the best experience in any format. With movies and television shows on HD DVD, our customers will be able to enjoy their favorite Warner Bros. programming in stunning high definition," said Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video. "We are pleased to confirm the availability of 24 titles which will enable consumers to start building their high definition libraries."

Titles revealed for the HD DVD U.S. launch include key fourth quarter 2005 blockbusters Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dukes of Hazzard as well as classics from the extensive Warner Home Video library such as The Matrix, Twister and Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines. Select films, such as Rumor Has It and Syriana, will be released simultaneously on HD DVD and standard DVD. For a complete list of planned HD DVD titles and street dates, please see below.

WHV title support for HD DVD will continue throughout 2006, with new theatrical releases such as Superman Returns and Poseidon being introduced simultaneously on standard DVD and HD DVD formats. Additional releases from the catalog will be introduced throughout the balance of 2006, including both theatrical and TV products. HBO Video, distributor of critically-acclaimed television series, films and theatrical features, also plans to issue releases on HD DVD through Warner Home Video, its distribution partner.

"The high definition experience ushers in an exciting, leading-edge way of providing programming in the highest quality possible to our home audience," said Henry McGee, president, HBO Video. "HBO's future HD DVD releases will include award-winning programs such as The Sopranos and Deadwood."

Today, the vast Warner Bros. library, considered one of the most prestigious and prodigious in the world, consists of more than 6,600 feature films, 40,000 television titles and 14,000 animated titles (including over 1,500 classic animated shorts). The library currently consists of films from such distinguished banners as Warner Bros. Pictures, Castle Rock, Warner Independent Pictures, Lorimar Pictures, RKO and classic MGM (pre-1986).
