NComputing Announces New P100 for Care-Free Computing
and Networking Throughout the Home (24/1/2006)
Multiple Users Share a Single PC Over Existing
Home Electrical Wiring, Also Acts as the Perfect Internet Appliance
with HDTV
NComputing, Inc., an emerging technology
provider of "desktop streaming" technology and completed network
solutions, announces its newest product, the P100. Specifically
designed for the home market, the P100 terminal box allows multiple
users to share a single PC over existing electrical wiring and also
acts as the perfect Internet appliance for homes with HDTV. Up to
ten users can share one host PC simultaneously and independently
and there are no hassles configuring routers, switches, hubs or
wireless devices because power outlets become the means to transfer
data easily and securely.
NComputing is part of the HomePlug(r) Powerline
Alliance which is helping to drive the worldwide acceptance of high-speed
networking over power lines. To see how NComputing's products work
during CES, please visit the HomePlug Powerline Alliance at Booth
#26924 in South Hall 2, Tech Home Section at the Las Vegas Convention
Center or stop by NComputing's display at the Las Vegas Hilton Booth
#60070.
NComputing's proprietary, multi-user embedded
SoC (System on Chip) technology enables "desktop streaming" which
allows families to create a "community computing" environment from
the family room, kitchen, garage or anywhere in the home. Simply
install the included terminal server software in the host PC and
add a display, keyboard and P100 wherever PC access is desired.
Plug all of the devices into the nearest electrical outlets and
they all communicate securely, passing data around the home via
the electrical wiring.
"Unlike today's DMR (digital media receiver)
products for audio and video streaming alone, our "desktop streaming"
allows Internet surfing, email, instant messenger and more," said
Young Song, co-founder and CEO of NComputing, Inc. "Thanks to HomePlug's
powerline networking technology, electrical outlets in the home
become the network and all family members can enjoy a personal computer
and access throughout the home."
Homes with HDTV can easily switch from watching
TV to the Internet and vice versa, thanks to the P100. It's the
ideal Internet appliance with perfect compatibility with Windows(r)
and unlike previous set top boxes, it's simple to install. Just
load the included software and it's plug and play. It also includes
a serial port for touch screen applications in the home, business,
and commercial environments like restaurants, banks, hospitals and
hotels. The P100 is compatible with Windows(r) XP Home/Professional*,
Windows(r) 2000 Professional*, Windows(r) Media Center, Windows(r)
2000 Server*, Windows(r) Server 2003* and most Linux(r)* operating
systems.
Pricing and Availability
The estimated street price (ESP) for the
P100 is $199 and it's backed by a solid 1-year limited warranty.
The P100 will be available end of Q1 2006.
