KEF Introduces New Motorised Dipole Surround Custom
Installation Speaker (19/1/2006)
Stand C27, ISE 2006
Model CiFTD Combines Unobtrusive Installation
with Stunning Rear Effects Sound Quality
KEF has announced the addition of a new speaker
to its impressive Custom Installation Series line-up. Model CiFTD,
available in February 2006, is a stylish motorised dipole surround
sound speaker, combining unobtrusive installation with an ability
to create stunningly realistic background effects.
Lying flush with the wall when not in use,
a sophisticated flat panel driver moves the CiFTD into position
when switched on, radiating higher frequencies equally front and
back to diffuse the sound evenly throughout the room, while low
frequency effects are being faithfully reproduced by the integral
130mm (5") bass driver. Acoustically, the two technologies
complement each other perfectly to generate a richly detailed ambient
soundfield.
Purpose built for flush mounting into walls
the CiFTD combines 100W power handling and 86dB sensitivity and
a 110mm x 180mm (41Ú2" x 7") Flat panel with a 130mm (5")
bass driver. It works particularly well with the KEF Ci3-80QT, itself
an exceptionally quiet motorised 3-way, 4-driver system.
Retail price is around £250 each.
The bezel and grille can be painted or covered
by fabric to match the interior décor.
All prices quoted are UK suggested retail
in £ Sterling. They include VAT.
