Lyngdorf Audio Introduces RoomPerfect (11/1/2006)
Many people know that the best room correction
systems can give startling improvements to the sound quality of
a hi-fi system. Quite often though, good results are only achieved
after numerous alterations to target curves etc. And often improvements
in some areas come at the expense of other qualities.
During the summer of 2005 Lyngdorf Audio
- a company with many years of experience in this field - took a
strategic decision to hire some of the best scientists and engineers
in the industry to work on a ground-breaking new room correction
technology that goes way beyond anything that has been created before.
The fruits of their labours will be demonstrated
for the first time in our room AP 1960 at CES in January 2006. We
guarantee you're going to be stunned at what you hearÉ
Our new system is named RoomPerfect(TM). It's
fully automated and capable of learning and extracting information
from your listening room in a totally new way.
It also offers a unique, new option for users:
Global and Focussed compensation. In short that means RoomPerfect(TM)
delivers an optimal sound field throughout the room (for good quality
listening over wide areas) as well as direct focussed compensation
in a specific listening position, based upon intelligent usage of
all the acoustic properties of your listening room.
RoomPerfect(TM) is in the process of being patented
by Lyngdorf Audio and we can hardly wait to tell you more about
it. In the meantime what we can say is that this is categorically
the world's first system that performs correction based on the actual
and accurate measured conditions in your room.
Earlier systems were totally dependent on
a coarse smoothing of the measured actual response Ð done either
mathematically or by averaging a number of measurements around the
sweet spot. Therefore the resulting correction 'overlooked' some
of the room problems, while 'overcorrecting' for others Ð particularly
at the lower frequencies.
The RoomPerfect(TM) system from Lyngdorf Audio
needs no smoothing or averaging at the lower frequencies to achieve
its correction. Therefore the system will accurately compensate
for virtually any room problems. The key to its abilities is highly
intelligent software which - and this is another first - determines
not only the problems, but also the cause of the problems.
The first implementation of RoomPerfect(TM)
will be in the form of an optional module for our award-winning
TDA 2200 True Digital Amplifier, also available as a retro-fit option
to all existing owners of the TDA 2200.
