British Companies Participating in UK@ISE 2006 (11/1/2006)

Stand C59, ISE 2006

INNOVATIVE PORTABLE PROJECTION SCREEN FROM BRITAIN MAKES DEBUT AT ISE 2006

An innovative portable projection screen that can be prepared in seconds is just one of several new products being showcased by British companies at the forthcoming ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) 2006 exhibition in Brussels from 1 to 3 February 2006.

About 25 companies from Britain will be exhibiting at the event, either independently or in a group presentation organised by Tradefair, on behalf of the trade association Intellect, with the backing of UK Trade & Investment, the government body responsible for promoting exports from and inward investment into the United Kingdom.

Rapid assembly

Among the main features of the NUVU screen being introduced by Lastolite (1) is the ease of use, rapid assembly and versatility of installation. The screen is removed from the carry case and an innovative and patented 'pop-up' design means it is ready for use in seconds. It can be positioned virtually anywhere and also incorporates a magnetic ceiling-mount system. The only permanent fixtures are two 1.5 inch adjustable ceiling mounting discs to which the screen can be attached in a matter of minutes.

The oval design uses a special patented screen fabric that has been developed to be crease resistant. A rim tensioning system ensures a perfectly flat viewing surface, eliminating edge curl and ripples. The black velvet border absorbs any projector 'bleed off' as well as enhancing the sharpness, contrast and perceived brightness of the image. When not in use NUVU packs down into a circular carry case and, thanks to an opaque fabric construction, it weights from just 2kg to 5kg. Four sizes are available - small (viewing diagonal 55 inch); medium (66 inch); large (77 inch); and extra large (88 inch).

The company is currently looking for worldwide distributors for NUVU and would welcome enquiries on its stand.

Cables, connectors & components

Several new products, including a range of high-definition television (HDTV) display and distribution components, will be launched by Asheridge Components (2).

Designed for retail, commercial and multi-room residential applications, the Purelink range of HDTV components allows high-definition pictures to be displayed on multiple screens from just one source. A selection of Purelink fibre optic cable systems will also be on show. These are capable of extending an HDTV signal for display up to 1,500m away from the source.

Other new products on display will include the Hellerman Tyton 'Home Network Sciences' solution for quick and easy system integration. The system provides a full networking infrastructure to support home communications and entertainment equipment. Various connectors and cables from the Sidewinder range will also be showcased.

First time exhibitor

Exhibiting for the first time at ISE, Ikon AVS (3) will promote a range of innovative control and interfacing products, including the Europlate versions of its Podule control system.

The Podule range allows users to develop control for the majority of requirements, from the simplest systems using a push button wall panel to touch screen control over display operated, integrated installations utilising infrared, relay and switching controls through a Podnet network. New to the range is the VGA Podule, a four-input switcher with additional functionality through an inbuilt Rs232 port for direct control over display devices. Add-on features, through the 'Podnet' port, include access to all the Podule family of control panels, touch screens and control units.

Managed AV solution

A managed AV solution that can be customised to meet individual needs will be one of several new products showcased by AV distribution and switching equipment specialists Smart-e (4).

The systems allows TV screens (plasma and LCD), projectors and all other types of displays to be remotely controlled and monitored from one central base located anywhere in the world via a standard IP-based network.

Other new products from the company include an 8x8 and SLX-111 short-range extenders. The 8x8 matrix is designed for the small corporate or domestic user, while the SLX-111 is a point -to-point unit for multiple video formats (UXGA, RGBS, YUV, Y/C, CVBS) and digital or analogue audio. It comes with discrete connectors for all supported video formats and is designed to 'plug and play'.

Latest addition

Cabletime (5) will be highlighting the latest addition to its MediaStar range of television and multi-media distribution systems.

MediaStar Evolution means the company can now provide both IP-based and traditional CAT 5/6 cable network-based solutions for television delivery. Applications include: newsrooms; dealing rooms; sports stadia; corporate offices; hospitals; schools; and universities.

New range

Satellite and television reception/distribution specialists Global Communications (UK) (6) will be showcasing its latest product range - AviLYnX.

The range uses CAT5e to distribute high-quality audio and video from multiple AV sources to multiple viewing stations, with full control.

Award winning product

E-medivision.com (7) will be highlighting its award winning X-View range of multi-image display processors, together with the POINT HD broadcast presentation system.

Awarded the star product "Superior Technology" prize at IBC 2005, X-view is a range of multi-image display processors that allow high resolution 'virtual monitor wall' to be realised. The range starts from 4 input quads and extends to 32 input display systems. Input signals from composite video, SDI, HD-SDI, computer and IP streams can be monitored and viewed on large screen display walls as used in command and control and monitoring applications, ranging from CCTV to broadcast applications.

POINT is a touch screen system that allows operators to draw onto a TV picture in real time, giving immediacy and extra content to broadcasts.

First time in Europe

Being shown for the first time is Europe will be the VN-Matrix(TM) device from independent exhibitor Electrosonic (8).

In simulation, high-definition surveillance and telemedicine the requirement is for real-time full motion imaging. This new device transmits high resolution real-time full motion images with a bandwidth of only a few Mb/s and with minimum latency (approx. 3 frames end-to-end). Currently supplied as a codec pair, it uses the wavelet transform and a unique coding method to transmit very high quality moving images over networks. It can be programmed to provide lossless, visually lossless and lossy compression according to available bandwidth.

Also on show will be the VN-QUANTUM image processing and management system. Intended for use with electronic display walls of any size, it integrates multiple video, graphic and networking sources. Each unit can accept a combination of up to 168 video inputs, 28 UXGA outputs (at 24 bits) and an unlimited number of RGB sources.

Distributors sought

In addition to launching several new products, B-Tech International (9), a supplier of mounts and supports for home and commercial AV equipment, will be looking to meet new overseas custom install distributors.

With modular designs, the products offer ceiling and wall mounting options for LCD, plasma and CRT televisions, as well as universal mounts for projectors and freestanding supports for both audio and visual equipment.

Over 30 models

With over 30 gooseneck mounted, boundary and hanging models, UniPoint, from Audio-technica (10), is a complete range of installation sound microphones.

The range has recently been completely re-engineered, utilising breakthrough audio and mechanical design improvements. New features include UniGuard(TM) RFIshielding for immunity from radio frequency interference, new interchangeable condenser elements (cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and UniLine(TM) line cardioid) and improved off-axis rejection for improved gain before feedback.

Smaller systems

Specialising in products for the smaller systems, ProCon Technology (11) is a manufacturer of RGB, video and audio switching and distribution systems, infrared and serial control products and PC, video and audio output plates for wall and floor box fixing.

New from the company is an IP control for remote management and control of audio visual equipment across the network, and a new range of dedicated display control panels, which are available in both UK and European DIN sizes.
