Stewart Connector's New CAT 6 Plugs Support 10 Gigabit
Ethernet to Optimize the Performance of Next Generation High-Speed
Applications (30/12/2005)
Shielded Devices' Innovative and Proprietary
Design Effectively Blocks Alien Crosstalk, Promotes Installation
Efficiencies, and Assures Consistent High Performance
Stewart Connector, a subsidiary of Bel Fuse
Inc. (NASDAQ:BELFA) (NASDAQ:BELFB), today announced the availability
of the 39200 Series of Category 6 modular plugs engineered to exceed
TIA/EIA-568B.2 data wiring standards. The new parts join Stewart
Connector's comprehensive offering of connectors designed for high-speed
networking and computing applications, and are the latest addition
to the Company's next generation of shielded CAT 6 RJ-45 plugs.
Notably, the plugs feature a 2-level load bar that separates the
split pairs to ensure the plugs' ability to exceed CAT 6 transfer
performance requirements for NEXT (Near End Crosstalk) and Return
Loss. The load bar also aids in the connectors' assembly as it accurately
positions the wires for termination. Another outstanding feature
of the Series is that its termination tool crimps both the contacts
and the shield fingers in a single step to maximize installation
and applied cost efficiencies. The plug features a dual crimp shield
resulting in a reliable ground path connection as well as strain
relief. A new bend limiting strain relief boot, featuring an anti-snag
tab, is optionally available also.
The 8-conductor plugs are ideal for use on
CAT 6-rated cable assemblies in the broadest range of next-generation
10 Gigabit Ethernet telecommunication, premise wiring, and computer
networking technologies. Among the most common uses for which they
are typically specified are in high-speed patch cords used in wiring
closets to interconnect patch panels, hubs, routers, switches, and
servers. The Series is equably suitable for employment in office
environments to connect computers and peripherals to modular wall
jacks. Moreover, the plugs are capable of accommodating both typical
24 and 26 gauge solid or stranded cables due to their patented contact
design.
The Series is manufactured of UL94-VO polycarbonate
and is equipped with electro-polished 50 microinch gold-plated contacts
for durable, long-lasting connections. Additional specifications
include an operating temperature range of -40 degrees to +85 degrees
C, and durability of 750 matching cycles. Voltage rating is 150
VAC, and current rating is 1.5 A @ 25 degrees C. Plugs' performance
is tested and monitored on the leading manufacturers' CAT 6 patch
cables to assure optimum yields in system performance and unsurpassed
repeatability.
Pricing for Stewart Connector's 39200 Series
of CAT 6 plugs with strain relief boots starts at $0.57 each in
quantities of 10,000. While delivery is from stock to 4 weeks, samples
are immediately available.
