O2M8 announces WebBrick 6 products for smart home systems (30/12/2005)

O2M8(R) Ltd, a UK company creating innovative building automation products & solutions, introduces a new generation of WebBrick(R) product designed to meet the needs of developers, builders and installers looking to provide affordable smart home systems that are flexible, expandable and future-proof. The WebBrick(R) WB10B60 is a configurable monitoring and control unit with a web server and a flexible process control engine. It has the resources and capability to manage equipment and systems over a TCP/IP data network or through local devices like switches, sensors, motors and other transducers. The WB10B60 is configured through an intuitive user interface and has a comprehensive range of input/output resources including four analogue inputs with high/low threshold actions, four analogue outputs, eight trigger inputs, four monitor inputs, four mains outputs, two change-over relay outputs, eight digital outputs mimicking the mains and relay outputs, 5 temperature sensor inputs with high/low threshold actions, 16 configurable schedules, 8 configurable scenes and a web server.

The WB10B60 is supplied in a DIN-rail mount enclosure with rising clamp, screw down connections handling both low and mains voltages with the mains voltages connected through larger screw down connections easily identified on the enclosure. The WB10B60 is the first of a range of WebBrick6 products being planned to accommodate various applications for smart homes and building automation markets. The WebBrick(R) can be used for solving problems ranging from remote access, security and surveillance, heating and ventilation control, through to complete building automation. Many industrial and commercial companies can install the WebBrick(R) on their TCP/IP data network and configure it to do a job that may otherwise be ignored or forgotten. The available electrical interfaces on the WebBrick(R) allow it to connect too many kinds of sensors, switches, motors, relays, solid state relays, rotary encoders, analogue dimmers and other equipment. The WebBrick(R) can provide ubiquitous functionality and adaptability quite often needed when trying to solve problems that are not readily fixed with existing equipment.

WebBricks have been proven to be robust and reliable in a variety of applications and even if the network connection fails it will continue providing local control and monitoring. WebBricks(R) can also recover from power failures without the need for reconfiguration. These features allow for more effective building automation architectures to be deployed challenging traditional 'central control systems' that are vulnerable to hardware faults and power failures.

John Guyatt from O2M8 comments "We have taken WebBrick(TM) technology another step forward with the introduction of a new generation of WebBricks. Following O2M8's principles of standard technologies and interfaces, the WB10B60 WebBrick(R) product has been designed for all installers and integrators who want to minimise installation and configuration times and maximise profit margins."
