Gefen Extends HD Video with Touchscreen Control over
CAT-5 Cables (16/12/2005)
ISE 2006
Before you contemplate rewiring the building
to accommodate upgrades to HD audio/video systems, visit Gefen for
recent innovations like its new HD video extender, the DVI RS-232
Extender.
The unit supports the extension of HD video
with local RS-232 touch screen control up to 150 feet over industry-standard
category-5 cable.
"Most notably, this means current in-wall
cabling can be used to distribute HDTV throughout the home or office,"
said Hagai Gefen. "This can curtail the cost of upgrading significantly."
Using a sender/receiver methodology, the
plug-and-play system supports HD video sent from DVI sources, such
as computers and DVD players, to an HDTV display in HD resolutions
up to 1080p or 1920x1200 for computers.
The unit is pass-through HDCP compliant for
guaranteed viewing of protected HDTV content, and allows the extended
display to be controlled by touch screen or wired remote from up
to 150 feet away.
Ideal for home automation systems, Gefen's
DVI RS-232 Extender is also available with analog video support.
The VGA RS-232 Extender enables analog audio/video components to
send signals up to 150 feet over CAT-5 cables with RS-232 control.
