Toshiba Launches its First Range of High Definition LCD iDTVs (28/11/2005)

In September 2005, Toshiba is extending its new range of High Definition Ready LCD TVs, to include three large screen models that feature a new slim line speaker design and integrated digital tuner allowing access to Freeview services. Ranging from 32 to 42 inches, the WLT58 series offers exceptional picture quality and market-leading connectivity including 2 x HDMI connectivity (with HDCP), component Video input and 3 Scarts. Picture quality is managed by Toshiba's clever Active Vision LCD picture processing that enhances Detail, Colour, Contrast and Movement. The WLT58 series comes stunningly wrapped by Toshiba's unique Picture Frame LCD styling.

This ultra stylish WLT58 range delivers stunning picture performance along with enriched SRS WOW sound quality. Each TV has an integrated digital tuner so viewers can make the most of over 30 extra channels from Freeview without the need of an additional digital box. These sleek new models are all HD Ready, ensuring compatibility with future High Definition TV (HDTV) broadcasts, such as BSkyB's service due to commence in 2006.

Each large screen WLT58 model offers dual HDMI inputs, allowing users to digitally connect either a HDMI DVD player, HD digital receiver or, in the future a HD DVD player. The models therefore guarantee not only high flexibility but also excellent transmission and image reproduction quality.

In October 2005, two additional small screen LCD TVs, the 20WLT56 and 27WLT56 launched featuring integrated digital tuners.
