Polk Audio and Invision Join Forces to Introduce First IP-Addressable Loudspeakers Featuring the DigiLinX Digital Multi-Room Audio System (28/11/2005)

Invision are delighted to announce that they have been appointed as exclusive UK distributor for Polk Audio with immediate effect.

"We are extremely pleased to have been selected by Polk to be the exclusive distributor for such a successful range of products. Joining forces with Polk puts us in a position to grow our speaker business in the UK with a manufacturer that specialises in both custom installation speakers and home cinema systems" said Steve Beahan, Invision UK's Managing Director.

"Polk Audio wants to grow rapidly to achieve a leading position in the UK custom installation and the high-end A/V market, and we want to achieve this by having the right distribution partner. "We have found such a partner in Invision UK" said Steve Reed, Polk's European Sales Manager. "Invision UK are a professional and dedicated supplier of an exceptional portfolio of AV products. Working closely with Invision, will ensure that in addition to offering award-winning loudspeakers, we will also be able to offer the best support and the best service possible."

In a separate announcement, Invision UK have confirmed that they will begin shipment of the world's first active IP (Internet Protocol) addressable in-wall/ceiling speakers for the NetStreams DigiLinX(tm) digital multi-room audio system (also distributed in the UK by Invision) early in 2006.

These speakers are flush-mount speakers based on Polk's existing, LCi Series models. Digital amplifiers, electronic crossovers, DSP circuitry and TCP/IP control modules are built into the speakers to deliver a wealth of demonstrable convenience and performance benefits.

The speaker's integrated TCP/IP module allows the NetStreams distribution system to "find" the speaker set on the network and deliver uncompressed, full-fidelity digital audio signals from any source on the network. The built-in digital amplifiers and crossovers bi-amplify the loudspeakers for more accurate, lower distortion audio performance while integrated Digital Signal Processing (DSP) electronics provide sophisticated sound tailoring to optimize the performance of the speaker for the room and speaker locations.

"We can do things with an amplified speaker that you just can't do with a passive speaker and external amplifier" said Polk Product Line Manager Al Baron. "With the NetStreams system and our IP addressable speakers you now can have loss-less, noise and distortion-free 96/24 digital audio transmitted anywhere in the house all the way up to the inputs of the individual drivers in the speaker system. The performance will knock you out!"

While the Polk LCi-IP Series speakers provide the greatest functionality when used within a NetStreams' DigiLinX(tm) system, they can accept inputs from any analogue distributed audio system and still deliver a host of performance benefits.
