Atalum to Release First Fully Loaded ZigBee Starter Kit (21/11/2005)

OEMs & ICs Get All the Tools to Quickly Set-up, Customize & Analyze Network Performance Plus Develop Own Applications

Atalum Wireless S.A., a pioneer in enabling smart environments with its ZigBee-based, wireless GREENsuite product family, today announced the official market launch of its ZigBee starter kits that give OEMs and ICs all the necessary tools to quickly set-up ZigBee networks and monitor their performance as well as an easy to use API to develop applications.

Companies can now benefit from trying ZigBee networks without requiring any special programming expertise with Atalum's straight-out of the box user experience. Customers receive a complete and flexible solution that includes Atalum's GREENmesh modules (hardware devices) and NDT (Network Definition Tool) for simple network and device set-up, as well as a development suite for editing and programming plus a choice of network analyzer tools (Frontline's or Daintree Networksâ) to best suit client needs. A simple to use API is also included to enable programming of additional applications.

With their multi-functional capabilities, GREENmesh modules provide flexibility. They can act not only as coordinators, routers or end-devices but are also reprogrammable to enable sampling of different topology configurations and applications.

"Corporations can now accelerate their ZigBee go-to-market strategies and maximize capitalization of market opportunity without requiring a large investment to build an internal ZigBee knowledge base," says Sandra L. Wear, CEO & President, Atalum. "Companies can see first-hand how to profit from wireless sensor networks when they test the Atalum experience and see how we stack up."

Atalum's ZigBee starter kit includes five GREENmesh modules in two flavors (monopole antenna or button antenna also with on-board Temperature/Humidity sensor), Atalum's Network Definition Tool to define PAN and individual node settings, a complete development suite for programming and editing, technical documentation, both Daintree Networksâ and Frontline's (including its ZigBee ComProbe¨ finger-sized USB dongle) ZigBee analyzer tools, required connector cables, batteries, power cords as well as adaptors for international use. Atalum's ZigBee starker kit can be purchased directly from Atalum.
