Denon Selects Universal Electronics to Enhance New
Remote Lineup for High-End Audio Video Receivers (2/11/2005)
New Denon Line to Use UEI's Kameleon Technology
to Simplify Control for Demanding Audiophiles
Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) (Nasdaq:UEIC)
today announced that it has been selected to supply advanced remote
controls for certain models of Denon's high-end amplifiers and tuners
to be distributed in the United States, Europe and Asia. The new
remote controls will be powered by UEI's Kameleon(TM) "digital ink"-
like technology that intelligently illuminates only active device
keys for a uniquely intuitive graphical control interface. The relationship
marks a further integration of UEI's technology with high-end consumer
electronics partners in Asia.
With its award-winning industrial design
team, UEI produced a new line of high-end remotes in collaboration
with Denon which offer users an intuitive way to control Denon's
A/V receivers via easy-to-use key layouts, groupings and overall
ergonomic design. The remotes also feature UEI patented technologies
which allow for IR learning, direct code setup, and code verification.
UEI's Kameleon technology makes use of electro luminescent display
technologies provided by UK-based Pelikon Ltd., the world leader
in the development and application of printed segmented electro
luminescent Interface Display technology (pSEL) for consumer products.
"Denon continues to build upon its reputation
of offering quality audio products to discerning consumers," said
Hirofumi Ichikawa, President, Denon Brand Company. "Our customers
demand only the best, which challenges us to produce products that
satisfy their needs for simplicity and functionality. Partnering
with UEI allows us to provide users with superior control to complement
our products perfectly."
"Denon has a tradition of excellence in providing
high quality products for customers who are serious about their
audio needs. We are excited to have this opportunity to work together
on innovative products that utilize UEI's distinctive technologies,
such as Kameleon, that help our customers achieve their goals,"
said Paul Arling, chairman and chief executive officer at UEI. "We
look forward to the continued growth in the acceptance of our innovative
technologies in the lucrative and competitive Asian market."
