Ruckus Wireless demonstrates breakthrough technology
at The Connected Home (26/10/2005)
Ruckus Wireless will be demonstrating new
technology at The Connected Home show, London Olympia, that, FOR
THE FIRST TIME, enables 'broadcast quality' TV, video and gaming
to be run over a wi-fi network in the home.
Consumers increasingly want on-demand entertainment
and communications anywhere in the home. Installing a wi-fi network
is an obvious way to achieve this, but up to now, the transmission
of multimedia content has typically required separate distribution
networks, as off-the-shelf wi-fi products can only stream video
over a short distance before it becomes unwatchable.
With the new Ruckus smart antenna and multicast
system, it is now possible to reliably deliver high-quality video,
audio, games and rich data anywhere throughout the home - effectively
enabling 'true' triple play over wireless and eliminating installation
inconvenience, wiring costs and unsightly displays of cables and
cords.
Ruckus believes that service providers' ability
to increase the flexibility and functionality of triple play in
the home - by offering technologies such as the Ruckus system -will
be critical to their future revenues. Focusing on multimedia services
over wireless will enable them both to retain and acquire users,
as well as significantly enhance the subscriber experience.
