Vantage Controls is proud to take a lead
role in the development of ZigBee, with Jared Lemke, a Vantage engineer,
chairing the Home Automation Profile Task Group in the ZigBee Alliance.
The ZigBee Alliance is an association of
companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power,
wirelessly networked, monitoring and control products based on an
open global standard.
"Everyone in our industry seems to be talking
about Zigbee, but Vantage is doing much more than talking," said
Richard Brady Vantage Executive Vice President. "We are actually
taking a lead in developing standards to be implemented in both
Vantage and competitors' products."
Both 2.4GHz and sub 1GHz frequencies are
supported by ZigBee. The 2.4GHz band is the worldwide operability
band, meaning that a wireless solution will be available globally
using this frequency, which will open additional opportunities in
the residential and commercial markets.
"ZigBee is a great tool that we want to use
to expand our quality lighting control to all of our markets, both
nationally and internationally," Lemke said. "We think that ZigBee
will help us accomplish that goal."
For the first time, companies will have a
standards-based wireless platform optimized for the unique needs
of remote monitoring and control applications, including simplicity,
reliability, low-cost and low-power. Using a ZigBee standard will
also allow the ability for products from different companies to
communicate with each other.
