AMX Targets Growing Home Theater Sector With MAX-HT and MAX Audio/Video Player Advanced Audio/Video Entertainment System (29/9/2005)

MAX-HT(TM) and MAX Audio/Video Player(TM) Change the Way People Store, Manage and Play CDs and DVDs

AMX Corporation, a worldwide leader in advanced control system technology, launched two new products targeting the unique and evolving needs of the burgeoning home theater sector to its lineup. The new MAX-HT(TM) content servers are the world's first multimedia servers engineered specifically for direct placement in acoustically demanding environments like home theaters. Likewise, the MAX Audio/Video Player(TM) (AVP) is the industry's first product to combine an Audio/Video Module (AVM), which displays content from a multimedia server, with a high-end DVD player for ad hoc viewing. AMX's control solutions, including its MAX product line, are on display at CEDIA EXPO in booth 141 Sept. 9 - 11.

"Our MAX product family has truly revolutionized the way people distribute content in residential and commercial markets," said Rashid Skaf, President and CEO, AMX. "This product line is key to our strategy to provide comprehensive content control solutions for storage, management and distribution. The MAX-HT and MAX AVP provide important new options and flexibility for end users and broaden opportunities for our dealers to sell the product line into the residential home theater market, as well as for whole home audio/video distribution."

MAX-HT

With its aesthetic styling and muted operation, MAX-HT is the industry's first server designed specifically for a visible equipment rack, table or credenza. It offers all of the features and capabilities the market has come to expect from MAX servers, including custom playlists, quick searching, on- demand video and simultaneous viewing and/or listening.

"The MAX-HT is optimal for both home theaters and whole home audio/video distribution because of its elegant design, innovative features and acoustical advancements. The MAX-HT is virtually inaudible to the human ear, making it the only server suitable for playing and viewing in a home theater or any living area throughout the home," said Skaf. "Homeowners storing A/V equipment in a closet will continue to find our other MAX servers compelling; however, the MAX-HT offers for the first time the option to display the server in a living space."

The MAX-HT is also suitable commercial applications such as classrooms, hotels, restaurants and sports bars. It is available in two configurations -- the MAX-HT04 can hold 5300 CDs or 250 DVDs, while the MAX-HT12 holds up to 16,000 CDs or 750 DVDs. Both servers offer Ethernet capabilities and eight optional external audio only zones.

MAX Audio/Video Player

The MAX AVP includes a high-end DVD player, enabling whole home video and audio distribution and local playback of individual DVDs and CDs. It is used to distribute audio and video to multiple zones throughout the home and is engineered as an audio/video content playback module to work in conjunction with the full line of MAX-MMS Integrated Content Servers.

It comes with its own remote control and provides four of the most common video outputs -- component video output, composite video, S-Video (Super- Video) and HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) -- ensuring compatibility with a wide variety of display devices.

"Viewing digital video content is simpler and more convenient than ever. With MAX AVP, a homeowner can watch a movie stored on their MAX server or use the local DVD player for immediate playback of DVD content," said Skaf.

Availability

The MAX-HT and MAX Audio/Video Player will be available within 90 days.
