Sencore Announces the SP495 SoundPro Audio Consultant Handheld Audio Analyzer (21/9/2005)

Sencore announces the addition of the SP495 Audio Consultant to its SoundPro family of portable, handheld audio analyzers, providing the most powerful acoustic and audio analyzing tests to date.

The Sencore SP495 SoundPro Audio Consultant is Sencore's most powerful acoustic & audio signal analyzer. The SP495 SoundPro provides acoustic/audio analysis for analyzing distributed sound and sound reinforcement systems, plus live sound applications and industrial sound analysis; all in one handheld, battery-operated instrument. Its high resolution color LCD, faster audio codec, dual-FFT processing, high gain audio outputs, and expanded analysis functions put the Audio Consultant at the top of the SoundPro line.

With a broadened base of core audio analyzing tests and improved testing performance, the SP495 is well suited for acoustic design and consultation analysis. The Audio Consultant makes easy work out of any acoustic or audio system analyzing challenge, including speaker coverage, time alignment, delay, or frequency response equalization. The SP495 offers an expanded base of standard firmware modules, with SoundCore, Noise Curves (analyze noise levels to NCB, RC, or PNC industry standards), Multi-Band Decay (7-band simultaneous RT60 test), and Audio Stethoscope firmware all included as standard equipment. Digital monaural audio generator output signals are provided through the S/PDIF, Toslink, and USB outputs. The USB audio port also accepts digital input signals. The Audio Consultant also provides an Impulse Recorder, with log-swept sine wave energizing signal, and a Stereo Recorder for 48 kHz digital record and playback of two channel audio. Both recorder functions save standard wav files to an SD memory card.

Optional test functions include Time Delay Analysis (TDA) for time-windowed loudspeaker and room response analysis, with TerraLink software for 3D waterfall graph display; Speech Intelligibility tests, including STI-PA; and TechBench for electrical signal/component tests. The SP495 is able to be upgraded with these additional firmware functions (in the field), as needed, to better fit budget requirements.

The SP495 features a high resolution, bright color LCD display for easy analysis in all lighting conditions, plus dual phantom-powered high-gain/low-distortion microphone inputs, powerful dual-FFT processing, integrated USB audio interface, and independent analog monitoring. The SP495 is supplied with a Type 2 standard measurement microphone, XLR cable, USB cable, impedance test cable, power adapter/charger, battery and padded carry case. The removable lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides 4-5 hours of portable testing.

Availability SP495: Q4-2005; $3,295 base price with Type 2 microphone. Includes SoundCore, Noise Curves, Multi-Band Decay, and Audio Stethoscope firmware modules.
