Introducing Denon's Smart Life S-101: Home Cinema with a human face (24/8/2005)

Home Cinema with a human face - No compromise in audio and video performance. Surround Sound - DVD - CD - iPod and more

As entertainment products become more advanced, they also become more complicated. The S-Series reverse this trend and make it easier than ever before, for consumers to take full advantage of the advanced audio/video performance features and functions they have purchased.

Denon engineers designed the S-Series to fuse high-performance with elegance, ease-of-use and advanced connectivity. The S-101 is the first to arrive, the S-301 featuring HDMI, SACD, DVD-A, USB inputs and an even higher level of audio and video performance follows shortly. As with all Denon products, the Smart Life series are built up to a standard and not down to a price.

Dolby(R) Virtual Speaker creates the illusion of having five speakers, where in reality only two are present. Sophisticated room modelling techniques 'place' sounds where speakers would usually be, convincing your brain that sound is coming from five ideally positioned speakers. Dolby Virtual Speaker delivers 'surround sound' in situations where having five speakers is not practical.

Dolby(R) Headphone is a technology which, when any pair of headphones is plugged in, creates a realistic surround sound experience. Listening is 'out of head' and feels open and pleasant, avoiding listener fatigue which occurs when watching an entire DVD or listening to a whole album through headphones. It's ideal for those occasions when the other occupants of your house are asleep, when watching DVDs, or simply when you don't want to disturb the neighbours!

Integrated iPod Connection supplied as standard

Unique connectivity and total control for iPod and iPod Mini

The Denon S-101 uses the iPod's multi-connector to provide the best possible sound, as well as the industry's most convenient and complete on-screen operations menu.

Using the specially designed front-panel connector and the supplied plug-and-play Denon/Apple 'Connect iPod' cable, users enjoy full access to all features and functions of 3rd and 4th generation iPods, and the iPod Mini, including the familiar iPod navigational menu displayed on their main screen.

The on-screen display mimics the iPod's own menu display, offering easy and familiar control capabilities. iPod photo pictures can be displayed on the main TV display with music if required.

Once connected (using the simple on-screen setup guide provided), all basic iPod features, including volume control, menu navigation, play, stop and skip, can be accessed via the Denon remote. Users can even recharge their iPods while connected and show photos with music on the main TV screen.

Any other portable audio device can be connected via the 3.5mm input socket on the front panel.
