KEF Audio (UK) has announced the introduction of a new complete 5.1 DVD Home Cinema system Ð the KEF KIT200 Ð which combines a high gloss black finish with enthusiast standards of audio-visual performance. Not for KEF the latest trend of producing 'lifestyle' 5-1 Home Cinema systems with diminutive 'cube-like' speakers, which often under-perform. KEF's system offers credible performance, using slim, elegant satellite speakers with an audio integrity that could only come from KEF, a company possessing over forty years' experience in the loudspeaker business.

KIT200 comprises a high gloss black finish DVD player, with five matching three-way, three-drive unit satellite speakers and a jet-black sub-woofer. The DVD player is based on the multi-award winning KIT100 model, complete with satellite/cable, TV and VCR inputs as well as a choice of composite, S-video or component (including progressive scan) outputs.

The five uniquely styled satellite speakers (KHT5005) are built to demanding standards to extract the very best from any music track or movie. Each high gloss black finished, die-cast aluminium speaker enclosure incorporates KEF's latest Uni-Q¨ aluminium dome tweeter set into a 75 mm (3") midrange cone for excellent dispersion and clear vocals throughout the room. Twin 75 mm (3") long-throw midrange/bass drivers, with ultra-low distortion motors, ensure that the sound image is portrayed with outstanding clarity and conviction. By using a Uni-Q driver in the dedicated centre speaker, perfect timbre-matching, wide multi-listener coverage and high quality vocal reproduction are assured. The satellite speakers include desk bases and wall mounting brackets as standard with the option of a matching floor stand in high gloss black.

The sub-woofer is also derived from the acclaimed KIT100 set-up, but again comes finished in a striking black cabinet with a high-gloss black front panel and an extra amplifier channel to drive the centre speaker.

Ease of set-up is unparalleled for this type of system with simple connections that are impossible to get wrong. Similarly, the on-screen menu is colourful and simple to navigate even though most users will never need to access it as the system works immediately straight 'out of the box'.
