Clipsal Survey Shows "Beauty is not in the eye of the contractor" (19/8/2005)

A recent independent survey of domestic electrical contractors has revealed that many are unaware of the importance of appearance when choosing electrical wiring accessories. The survey, carried out by Clipsal, a brand of Schneider Electric, shows that only 3.8% of domestic contractors consider appearance when selecting wiring accessories.

"With lighting becoming one of the most widely used modern dˇcor styling accessories, domestic contractors should be embracing the trend for style conscious modern living," explained Marc Gaunt from Clipsal, a brand of Schneider Electric. "Such contractors should offer more than standard white plugs and switches, and instead offer stylish accessories that complement rather than detract from interior design."

On the other hand, 7 out of 10 contractors said they base their selection of wiring accessories on the safe and robust construction of the products. "However, the two options can be reconciled and contractors can easily meet both their requirements and those of their customers. For example, wiring accessories from Clipsal are hardwearing and impact resistant, yet also come in a range of stylish finishes to suit different decors," concluded Gaunt.
