Next-Generation television - with Dream New DM 7025
boxes to be presented at IFA (12/8/2005)
Dream, the leading manufacturer of Linux-based
set-top boxes, will be presenting the new generation of Dream boxes
at the IFA in Berlin. These feature a plug-&-play tuner enabling
them to be used for digital cable, satellite and terrestrial reception,
thus providing optimum flexibility.
The IFA is being used by Dream as the platform
to present the DM 7025 to the public for the first time. Apart from
the improved hardware (300 MHz processor, 128 MB DDR RAM, 32 MB
flash), the DM 7025 features a plug-&-play twin tuner. The twin
tuner feature, combined with PVR technology, allows you to view
one television programme on screen while another programme is recorded
on the optional hard drive in the background. In addition, the box
can be fitted with an analogue modem.
The Dream DM 500 PVR sets radically new standards.
The smallest Linux receiver in the world comes equipped with a plug-&-play
single tuner for DVB-S, -C-, or -T. In addition, the PVR box can
be fitted with standard commercially available 2,5" hard drives.
This means it is almost certainly also the smallest Linux-based
hard drive receiver in the world. The box is only as large as a
standard video-cassette, yet its hard drive and 100 Mbit full duplex
Ethernet interface provide the full range of features necessary
for a home entertainment network.
A successor to the DM 5620 will also be presented.
The DM 6000 comes equipped with a single-line graphics display,
and just as the 7000 series it can be upgraded through the addition
of a hard drive. It, too, features a plug-&-play single tuner, and,
in common with all Dream boxes, a 100 Mbit full duplex Ethernet
interface.
Tim Ziemann, spokesperson for Dream: "The
new Dream boxes really are the ultimate equipment for all those
who are looking for more than just switching back and forth among
television channels. Digital television, MP3 player, picture viewer,
Internet access and PVR functions - what set-top box other than
the Dream box can provide such a wide range of applications? This
really is next-generation television."
Dream would like to extend a warm invitation
for you to visit our stand at the IFA, at stand 230 in Hall 2.1.
We look forward to meeting you there.
