Dynalite's DLWizard Makes Home Automation Easy (12/8/2005)
Dynalite has released their latest generation
commissioning software, DLWizard, which is set to revolutionise
the way home automation systems are programmed. Many conventional
lighting control and home automation system programming packages
require users to select devices and configure them to application
requirements. This approach generally requires the user to have
comprehensive knowledge of each system device. DLWizard's new application-centric
environment virtually eliminates the need for any prior product
knowledge.
DLWizard involves a number of intuitive steps
based on scoping lighting control application requirements i.e.
naming rooms and defining circuits or channels within rooms. The
Wizard then uses this information to automatically determine the
equipment required and assemble the data necessary to commission
all network devices. Additional steps enable the user to pre-configure
preset lighting scenes or output states, schedule routine time clock
control events and build sequential logic functions such as 'welcome
home' or 'away' via easy-to-use dialogues with lookup fields for
all command and function parameters. When completed, the user simply
signs-on each device and the Wizard then auto configures the entire
system.
DLWizard's intuitive environment dramatically
reduces the time required to scope and commission a control system.
It is ideal for infrequent users, as all steps are clearly defined,
requiring no knowledge of programming languages or ongoing familiarity
to proficiently use the application.
Included with the DLWizard is a powerful
reporting utility, which generates comprehensive documents outlining
all configuration details. The report includes controller termination
details in a format that can be readily provided to an installation
electrician as a wiring schedule and provides the ideal solution
for as-built documentation. In addition, the report can be run on
project completion to capture any changes that have been made during
commissioning. DLWizard includes an XML export facility, which enables
data to be imported to a range of CAD packages to automate the creation
of system drawings.
Sales people, systems integrators and electrical
contractors can also use DLWizard to determine system requirements,
leading to a dramatic reduction in commissioning time on site. Pre-commissioning
the system means a technician can arrive on-site, sign-on the devices
and download configuration data from the project file that was previously
created and saved during the scoping stage.
