Innersound Lands in the UK, distributed by Metropolis Music (4/8/2005)

Innersound in the last few years have gone from strength to strength, founded in 1996, Innersound has designed and built several of the most highly regarded components of the last decade in the USA. But in 2002, Gary Leeds a life long audiophile and businessman purchased the assets of Innersound and moved the company to a new state of the art facility in Boulder, Colorado. Here a new vision of the company was created and a team of some of the most experienced and creative audio professionals in the business were assembled. From this infusion of talent has arrived two exceptional ranges of solid-state electronics, plus two world-class electrostatic hybrid transmission line speakers.

Metropolis Music has patiently been waiting for this development plan to fully blossom into the series of products we see today. The iSeries packs all the potential of a true high-end product, while offering supreme sonic quality and build value, with the iControl pre-amp (£3500), and the stereo iPower 330 power amp (£3885) along with the mono iPower 750 power amplifiers(£7,700 per pair).

The Reference DPR(dynamic power reserve)Series puts an even stronger emphasise on refinement of the circuit designs, components and total quality of the build and performance. The all new Audio Vault(tm) chassis is a marvel of engineering and industrial design, machined from 3/8" aluminium billet, the chassis was specifically engineered to minimise vibration-induced resonances that can smear even the subtlest of musical detail. This series is made up of the RCP-1 pre-amp (£10,000), a 500watt stereo DPR500 (£10,895) power amp and the 1000 watt DRP1000 (£22,500 per pair) Mono Block power amplifiers. The first export models in this range are being built at this moment and should be seen here in the UK within the next six to eight weeks.

While two brand new loudspeakers replace the older IsisIII & ErosIII, both of the new speakers incorporate the unique Innersound UltraStat(tm) arc proof flat panel electrostatic speaker technology. They are electrostatic/transmission line hybrid speakers, designed to reproduce the true dynamics of the concert hall. The Kachina (£9,975) the smaller of the two models incorporates the UltraStat(tm) flat panel with an 8"patented woofer and magnetic damping system in a compact transmission line bass chamber. The Kaya Reference (£15,775) uses a larger UltraStat(tm) flat panel with a specially designed 10" patented woofer and magnetic damping system in a compact transmission line enclosure below. These speakers are coupled with a separate electronic crossover/amplifier, delivering 1200 watts of power allowing for fine levels of adjustment and tuning between the UltraStat(tm) flat panel and the bass driver to suit the acoustics of any room.

The iSeries The first products to arrive here in the UK from innersound are the iSeries range; the goal of this true audiophile grade control preamplifier is to offer gain, switching and other conveniences without adding a sonic signature of its own. Featuring extremely short signal paths, a fully regulated power supply combined with switching for up to six sources and by-pass for use with Home Theatre processors making this a truly modern preamplifier for the discriminating enthusiast. User adjustment via the remote control includes system gain and channel balance in precise 1dB increments, with individual gain control between input components. The iControl delivers an exceptional accurate portrayal of the input signal emanating from a jet-black background.

The iPower 330 Stereo Amplifier is designed to drive extremely low impedance loads presented by electrostatic, planar, and other awkward loudspeakers. Sporting 18 ultra linear hi-speed bi-polar output devices per channel delivering 330 watts per channel into 8 Ohms, doubling into 4 Ohms and is unconditionally stable into1/3 of an Ohm. The iPower 330 amplifier draws a very small idle current and will run extremely cool even when bring driven. Designed with the shortest signal paths, audiophile grade components, prodigious power reserve, inaudible low distortion, superb build quality and an affordable price only tell part of the story of this amazing amplifier.

Innersound philosophy on high power solids-state amplifier design is embodied in the iPower 750. Featuring no current limiting circuitry and 36 ultra linear bipolar output devices per amplifier, the iPower 750 delivers 750 watts into 8 Ohms and is unconditionally stable into any load. The highest quality capacitors are used with none used in the signal path, 1% tolerance precision metal film resistors are also used with both balanced and unbalanced connectors as standard. This compact amplifier draws very little idle current and runs extremely cool, contrary to conventional thinking that a powerful amplifier must be large and inefficient to perform. Retaining a superbly low distortion and effortless sound quality, audiophiles no longer need to choose between prodigious power and exceptional musicality.
