Communications Specialties Announces First Internal Plug-In Fiber Optic Receiver Card for High-Res Plasma Displays (25/7/2005)

Communications Specialties, Inc. (CSI) proudly introduces the Pure Digital Fiberlink(R) 7231 plug-in fiber optic receiver card designed for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. 50 and 43-inch commercial plasma display panels (PDPs). This ground-breaking product will bring unprecedented ease to fiber optic distribution of high-resolution video and stereo audio signals. The receiver card is CSI's latest addition to the Pure Digital Fiberlink 7220 series - the only complete family of all digital RGBHV and stereo audio over one fiber solutions.

The 7231 plug-in card fits into the expansion slot located on the bottom of fourth generation Pioneer commercial PDPs, allowing the plasma unit to directly receive high-resolution RGB and stereo audio signals over one fiber from any transmitting model within the 7220 Pure Digital Fiberlink series. Fiber may be single mode or multimode. Developed exclusively for Pioneer commercial PDPs, the plug-in receiver increases the flexibility of the plasma display by providing end users with the option to change boards to suit their needs.

7231 Receiver: Designed for point-to-point applications, the unit provides two baseband outputs. One provides direct feed to the PDP display. The other is externally available for analog connection to an adjacent PDP or local distribution amplifier.

The 7231 Receiver card will be available following certification by Pioneer. Certification is currently pending. When available it can be purchased through CSI resellers and other distributors, or by contacting CSI directly.
