Convention programme at e/home update 2005 sees the arrival of new trends (15/7/2005)

ÐÊ Keen interest in the smart home of the 21st century Ð high-ranking speakers to attend

During the IFA 2005 (2 Ð 7 Sept.) industry experts, companies, research institutions and associations at theÊ e/home update will present groundbreaking technological innovations and services for the networked home. In addition to highlighting the latest developments in the entertainment sector and housing industry, on 6 September 2005 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. the convention programme at the e/home update focuses on networked and user-friendly products and services for the smart home.

Hosting the event, Member of the e/home Advisory Board Wolfgang Tunze is aware that "the latest generation of electronically equipped houses of the future is no longer just the talk of experts and scientists. Consumers too are becoming more and more excited about what the smart home can offer. The fact that since opening in March 2005 the T-Com Haus in Berlin has met with such a wide response is proof of its magnetism and that the 21st century smart home is attracting great interest. Thus the e/home update 2005 will see experts discussing issues which revolve around current housing projects of this kind."

The opening keynote speech at this year's e/home update will be held by Scott Smyers, Chairman Board of Directors, Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). The list of speakers includes Carlo Bewersdorf (T-Online), Georg Schemmann (Elektro Beckhoff GmbH), Dr. Gerd LŸtjerig (Siemens AG Communications), Matthias WЧle (Tobit Software AG), Frank Bindel (T-Com), Klaus-Dieter Schwendemann (Weberhaus), Jšrg Engelbrecht (Siemens), Dr. Viktor Grinewitschus (Fraunhofer Institut Duisburg), Armin Hartmann (Hattinger WohnstŠtten eG), Dr. Reinhard Hund (ZVEI) as well as Werner Schmidt (ZVEH, BVT) and GŸnther Ohland (Allnet GmbH).

The coorganisers of the event, Gesellschaft fŸr Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik (gfu) GmbH and Messe Berlin GmbH, will hold daily tours with information on the networked home. For all trade visitors interested in taking part the meeting place for the tour is the international trade visitors' reception area in Hall 2.1.
