Pioneer Launches New EX Series High-end Speakers
for Exceptional Audio Performance (11/7/2005)
Pioneer today announces the availability
of its new series of high-end speakers, comprising the floor-standing
- S-1EX, the centre, S-7EX and the bookshelf; S-2EX; the high performance
speakers are the result of collaboration between a team of Pioneer's
leading audio experts drawn from Japan, US and France. The speaker
units are specially designed by Technical Audio Devices (TAD) and,
with the high-quality Beryllium tweeter and perfect setting of the
acoustic centres, provide no-compromise sound perfection for the
serious music lover.
"Pioneer is renowned for its heritage
and ongoing innovation in audio technology and to create the exceptional
performance of our EX speakers weāve pulled together some of the
world's leading audio engineers to collaborate on this exciting
project. The result? A combination of must-have technologies for
high-end audio performance for audiophiles, packaged in elegant,
stylish units to provide speakers that look great and deliver audio
that's remarkable in its precision" says Jim Catcheside, Product
Manager, Product Management & Technology, Home Entertainment Division,
Pioneer GB Limited.
The EX series will be marketed across the
globe and will lead Pioneer's strategy of providing best-in-class
performance for key audio categories. TAD is renowned as the reference
manufacturer for professional recording speakers and its design
of the speaker units underlines the capabilities of the EX range.
The 3-way floor-standing and centre speakers feature two 18cm TAD
woofers with Carbon-Aramid cones, and a concentric TAD mid-range/tweeter
speaker unit including a 14cm magnesium mid-range cone and a 2.5cm
Beryllium tweeter.
With each model of the range featuring a
Beryllium tweeter, each speaker doesnāt need supplementary super
tweeters to reproduce the very high frequencies (up to 100 kHz)
of DVD-Audio or SACD formats. Performance is further advanced by
the perfect setting of the acoustic centres of the EX's concentric
transducers (medium/tweeter) that markedly improves the sound image
precision and the off-axis frequency response of the speaker system.
These speaker units are assembled on a heavy
and very rigid cabinet (up to 100mm thick), which has been specially
designed to minimize the internal standing waves. The front baffle
has been shaped to ensure the perfect time alignment of the sound
ö sounds coming from each speaker unit will arrive at the listener
at the same time. This perfect time alignment will avoid any additional
sound colouration due to the different delays.
An attractive finish of real beech veneer
or a fashionable dark wood veneer will complement contemporary interiors.
