Fujitsu Adds Three New Plasmas to its 40 Series Range (5/7/2005)

CEDIA UK Expo 2005

Fujitsu General UK, a world leader in plasma technology, today announces the introduction of three new plasma screens to its current 40 series Plasmavision(tm) range. The new screens include two new 42" plasmas - the P42HTS40GS and P42VHA40ES - and one new 50" plasma - the P50XTS40GS. All three models feature the same technical and design improvements, found on the existing 40 series screens, including the second generation of Fujitsu's award winning video processing technology - Advanced Video Movement II (AVMII). To support the launch of the new screens, Fujitsu has also announced a new pricing schedule across the range.

Both the P42HTS40GS and P50XTS40GS feature a separate media box equipped with a tuner and increased connectivity options, including HDMI (HDCP) and RGB Scart. With the 40 series range already receiving plaudits for it exceptional picture quality, the new screens make a fantastic addition to Fujitsu's home cinema range, offering customers an extended choice of connectivity options.

The official European launch of the screens is at the CEDIA Expo in Birmingham on 28th June and they will be exclusively available from specialist AV retail outlets and custom installers. All new 40 series screens now have a three year warranty which includes on-site swap out for the first two years.

The new AVM II digital video processor technology represents the culmination of 15 years of research and development at Fujitsu. In addition to Fujitsu's proprietary High Definition Digital Media Compression (HDDMC) technology - which processes and scales differing video and multimedia formats - AVM II also includes four new features that deliver even crisper images:-

MPEG Noise Reduction Circuits including MPEG noise reduction to minimise block noise, mosquito noise reduction to eliminate 'ghost edges' and de-interlacing circuits to eliminate jagged edges - all resulting in a smoother image.

Image Adaptive Processing separates and processes on-screen text/graphics and video image simultaneously to ensure that both are displayed with optimal clarity.

Natural Light Sensor automatically senses the ambient light level of the viewing room and digitally adjusts the screen brightness and contrast to achieve the optimal on screen image.

Natural Colour Tuning adjusts individual hues to produce more vivid expressions and images that appear more natural.

For buyers looking to experience Fujitsu's legendary picture quality, but without having to invest in a matching home cinema and speaker set-up, all new plasmas come with a built-in stereo audio amplifier and optional matching speakers are available. With a redesigned bezel - measuring less then 10 centimetres in depth - these sleek and lightweight models are simple to install on wall -, ceiling -, or stand mounts and can be seamlessly integrated into any home theatre set-up.

The new screens join the P42HHA40US and P50XHA40US which were launched earlier this year.

P42HTS40GS

The Fujitsu Plasmavision(tm) P42HTS40 includes a widescreen (16:9), 1024 x 1024 pixel high definition panel featuring Fujitsu's AliS (Alternative Lighting of surfaces) technology. ALiS discharges the electrodes in the plasma panel in a more efficient manner than conventional plasmas, to achieve significantly higher brightness and definition producing extraordinary clarity, sharpness and colour accuracy. It yields an outstanding combination of 1000 cd/m2 brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The separate media box includes an analogue tuner and multiple inputs including HDMI (HDCP compliant), 2 x Component Video, 3 x RGB Scart, S-Video, Composite Video, DVI-D (PC only), 2 x 15 Pin VGA, RS232, Optical Audio and Stereo Audio.

P50XTS40GS

The Fujitsu Plasmavision P50XTS40 incorporates a widescreen (16:9), 1366 x 768 pixel high definition panel yielding 600 cd/m2 brightness and an incredible contrast ratio of 3000:1. The separate media box includes an analogue tuner and multiple inputs including HDMI (HDCP compliant), 2 x Component Video, 3 x RGB Scart, S-Video, Composite Video, DVI-D (PC only), 2 x 15 Pin VGA, RS232, Optical Audio and Stereo Audio.

P42VHA40ES

As Fujitsu's entry level 42" plasma, the P42VHA40 uses the AVM II video processor to bring out the best in its widescreen (16:9), 852 x 480 pixel VGA panel. Yielding an impressive combination of 1000 cd/m2 brightness and 4000:1 contrast ratio, the screen also boasts an excellent suite of inputs including RGB Scart, Composite Video, Component Video, 1x15 pin VGA and 2x Stereo Audio.
