AMX Launches Modero Keypad Range (4/7/2005)

AMX, a world leader in advanced control system technology, has launched a new series of control keypads, incorporating the popular design of the company's Modero touch panel range with enhancements to features and functionality. The Mio Modero Series includes four keypad models - Classic, Prestige, Elite and Attaché - offering the versatility to address a range of control needs, from simple to multi-function, in both commercial and residential markets.

The Mio Modero Series extends the clean and distinctive look of the award-winning Modero touch panels, offering a sleek and elegant design, particularly evident in the aesthetically appealing Attaché table-top model. The new series boasts a variety of colours, shapes and sizes, along with functionality options, including LED feedback, multi-colour custom buttons and, on two models, an LCD display.

The new series offers the same ease of integration that is synonymous with Modero. All Mio Modero keypads - whether single or double gang - are designed to fit into a single gang junction box, preventing the need to make extra holes in the wall. The series accommodates a standard European back box to conform to international requirements, and includes an extension plate to cover the wider back boxes found in some countries.

The Mio Modero Series is designed to be easier to customise for integrators. Through a new web-based sales tool, called KeypadPreview, integrators are able to create keypad designs by selecting colours, icons and text, and then printing them out for customer proposals or saving for later design and development. In order to program the keypad, direct order engraving and print out labels, integrators can utilise a new software program called KeypadBuilder

Mio Modero Classic

The Mio Modero Classic is available in both single and double gang options and with a choice of three colours - black, white and beige. The Classic version offers solid, engraved buttons with an LED that glows to indicate feedback. Horizontally adjacent square buttons may be replaced with double-wide, rectangular, engraved buttons for ease or emphasis to create the perfect interface for any application.

Mio Modero Prestige

The Mio Modero Prestige is available in both single and double gang options and with a choice of three colours - black, white and beige. The Prestige version mirrors the Classic but with clear buttons that are custom labelled by the customer. Each keypad comes complete with translucent sheets pre-printed with standard icons and text, as well as blank sheets to customize text and/or icon inserts. With a colour laser printer, integrators can customise each button with text, icons and colour.

Mio Modero Elite

The Mio Modero Elite is the first keypad designed to complement the Lutron Architectural Matte colour collection. The 11 colour options for this single or double gang keypad include black, white, almond, light almond, ivory, beige, grey, brown, taupe, metallic gold and metallic silver. The Mio Modero Elite is also available with an optional LCD display that doubles as a button and allows the user to scroll, select, and control directly on screen.

The LCD screen is simple and intuitive to navigate because of a new, advanced menu-driven system developed by AMX. The LCD screen shows 10 control options, with 10 different functions offered within each option, totalling 100 functions per keypad. AMX has further advanced its keypad functions with the development of a "people sensor" that enables the LCD to light up when a person reaches to touch the keypad. Unlike a traditional motion sensor, the keypad only senses people as they reach toward the keypad and not other obstructions that could get into the vicinity of the keypad.

The LCD replaces four single adjacent buttons - plus the standard single and double gang options, supporting up to five and thirteen engraved square buttons, respectively. The Mio Modero Elite is an attractive option for those customers who enjoy many of the LCD control features of a touch panel, but need a smaller size.

Mio Modero Attaché é

For the most functionality and versatility, the Mio Modero Attaché is an elegant table top solution for conference rooms, hotel rooms, homes and offices. In many of these environments, the user wants the flexibility of taking control from a desk, conference room table or bedside tale. The Attaché is IR-based with a 270 degree dispersal pattern, enabling signals to reach controlled devices regardless of how the keypad is positioned. Complementing the Attaché is an IR receiver that sends the IR signal to the NetLinx master. The Attaché is available in black to complement the award-winning Modero Touch Panel line.

The Classic, Elite and Attaché models are provided with a standard set of installation buttons in place to enable full functionality. Customised, engraved buttons can be ordered and installed separately to replace the utility buttons at any time.
