Russound Rocks! New speakers blend into backyard landscape, deliver Russound-quality sound in distributed audio environment (27/6/2005)

Extending high-quality stereo sound throughout the home and beyond, Russound(R) today unveiled a line of outdoor speakers that blend into the landscape and deliver high-fidelity music to people in their yards or around their pools. Having the shape and color of different rocks, Russound's OutBack(TM) Rock Speakers provide the durability to stand up to any weather conditions while making outdoor listening enjoyable. They will be available in July at a MAP of $260 each.

Russound developed the OutBack Rock Speakers in response to growing market demand for Russound-quality sound from outdoor speakers that match their surroundings and are impervious to the harshest environments. Some of the speakers' key features include:

-- a cast enclosure made of fiberglass that provides the shape, rough texture and color of rocks, and is weatherproof;

-- a 6.5-inch coaxial two-way driver with a polypropylene injection-molded cone fed through an optimized crossover. The result is sound qualities that are acoustically optimized for outdoor use. The Russound OutBack Rock Speakers disperse sound over a wider range to fill outdoor spaces;

-- a drain below the rust-proof grill that prevents water from collecting at the front of the speaker;

-- weather-tight wiring connections that link the speakers to the rest of the multiroom audio system;

-- security eyelet on the bottom plate that lets homeowners attach security cable to prevent movement.

"Multiroom audio systems have changed the way people enjoy music in and around the home," said Russound Product Manager Roger Soucy. "These speakers allow homeowners to bring the multiroom audio experience to their backyards with speakers that appear to be part of the landscape. Users are able to treat the outdoors as part of their living space, complete with the flexibility to listen to their distributed audio system."
